Dunlaying - I think that was Escalado. Totopoly was a Waddingtons board game using dice. The horses were named after winners of the Lincoln Handicap. Dorigo was one, I'd have to look up the others.

Anyone remember an old compurised arcade game, the cartoon horses would be on a screen above you and there were 3 places to bet, think it was called steeplechase, some of the horse names were ancient lights, grey god, hindenberg, helmsnan, demdyke, black leg, windy gorge....anyone remember it??

anyone been to them racenights when they used to put a game of footie on at the end of the eveing about 10 mins of highlights and you had to bet on the final score,sat there with 3 v 2,4 v 2 either way with about a min left and it was 2 v 2,but always ened up 6 v 4 to someone,

I played the one with white,red,green etc once at an arcade in about 1964. It was 2d a go and believe it or not I got a system going which was right about 70% of the time. I remember my DAD was amazed when I staggered back to the beach with a pile of 2ds.I had got into racing a year or two before and I don't remember the runners having jockeys so might have been a different make.

Great days Salmon. They first appeared in early 60s, hence the jockeys. Sure it was a penny a go Salmon as there was not a 2d coin in pre decimal days. You had me thinking there and thought I was losing the plot. Had to google the pre decimal coinage just in case. If there had been a 2d coin I would have been worried

I played the dome race arcade game at Fleetwood pier in the early 60's. I distinctly remember it was a threepenny bit a play !

thought it was 2p a play, the outsider was the white horse it may well have been him, not 100% sure though, It was 2p in the 70's and for much longer , white was definatly the outsider and the overround of the odds for such a small field was a rip off , there was one in Bournemouth pier amusements just a few years ago might still be there . |

they still have one of these great machines in an srcade at ocean pleasure beach in south shields ...the white hoss at ten to one wins once in November twice in December and thrice in January ....when there is no one about ..a bit like Newcastle a/w really

they have one in the guiness village at chelt,1st had a go in blackpool pleasure beach about over 40 yrs ago,seen them with camels instead of horses

They have one in the amusement arcade on Skegness pier, it's called the Arabian Derby and it is with Camels, 50p a go or 3for a quid, dreadful but catchy tune if you're standing near it.
I remember a machine when I was a kid at the local fair that had Grand National winners on it, can't remember much else about it apart from it being circular. |

Yeah duffy i remember , they used to have 1 in the pier arcade at skegness around the late 80s and another 1 of the horses called Citadel, i remember Ancient Lights was always fav and i put 10p on one of the rare times it was an outsider at 20/1 and it won . Happy Days

Yep that's the one, your one sounds like the one we had, instead of it throwing out random results the horses always ran to form, Ancient Lights was the best horse, our machine used to freak out from time to time and price all 8 horses up at 20/1 and in amongst them was the "good one", you just had to hit the button before someone else. I remember Citadel, more I can remember are Anglesey (never won) Svengali, herald angel, also if your horse made a little mistake at a fence it would immediately become one paced and fall at the next. |
