Really sorry Wasnot, your Dad was probably just about the last "face" around from pre sale/exchange times,it must have been great that he still came out with you and no doubt had a wry smile on how the ring works nowadays.

if its the same guy, used to stand at Warwick,Stratford and Cov dogs back in late 70s and 80s, always very pleasant and to my memory always had a smile on his face ( probably cos my old man was filling his hod ). I was just a nipper then but he made an impression. Condolences for your loss whether or not it was the man I recall.

Very sorry to hear that mate, your dad was one of the best old school bookies and a worthy adversary in the modern era. Condolences to you and your family.

Thank you for the kind words. Dad was 71 and never spent a day in hospital in his life which is why it was such a shock. He came out with us to Newbury a couple of weeks ago. Yes, he was the bookie who used to stand at Warwick and Stratford and Coventry and Leicester dogs, and yes he always had a smile on his face. That was how he was all the time.

carrot- apple of my eye, ever since the sunny April day she lead from start to finish to win a Ludlow seller in the mud by 30l @ 9/1. She never gave her backers a moments worry and landed bets winning me a five figure sum for the first time. Happy days!
