Just how many people does it take to present racing on TV? I have always felt the Channel 4 team is top heavy, and it looks like the ITV team is going the same way.................

'Is he being groomed?' What, by a pedo do you mean?

A presenting team needs: 1 betting analyst, 1 paddock watcher/interview winning connections, and 2 or 3 in the studio to analyse pre and post-race. Maximum 5. Simples.

An uninspiring line-up of bland, boring people with no personalties. Well done ITV!
By:
Assuming that Mottershead isn't actually part of the team, the only absolute shocker is Turner. Has nobody actually watched her on ATR? Made the likes of Cooper seem competent. No offers she is the first replaced.

Where's the fun for god's sake.

ITV is run by Peter Fincham - friend of mine used to be a senior director of a company he ran. I can't say he had a good word to say about him.

The whole project is destined to fail miserably

Once again Rishi the token minority
By:
Oli Bell, words fail me, he's completely useless. And as for the rest of them, dear me the demise of racing is gathering momentum.
By:
Ed Chamberlin and Francesca Cumani.... it started so well. Bit surprised at the full line-up. Biggest surprise, Turner especially, but also Mottershead and Rishi. Suppose someone knows what they are doing.......

Rishi, BBC, C4 and now ITV. Mr Bland must have a lot of friends. Haley is totally useless, any of the C4 ladies would have been better.

any of the c4 ladies would have been better................surely not tanya

Can't believe they've gone with Turner her voice really grates and she doesn't seem all that knowledgeable, Grassick is a surprising choice too though I watch very little RTE/Equidia so I don't know much about her. Neesom and Gary O'Brien are the only 2 I'd want to see get a big job, would never happen with Neesom as he's too opinionated but can't see why Gary isn't on terrestrial TV as he excels in several roles.
By:
gary Obrien would be great...........watched neesom about a dozen times..........never seen him come close to picking a winner......sounds brilliant but no end product
By:
Pottershead?
Someones taking the píss... |
By:
Gary O'Brien is one of the best all rounders by far . but the general public are not interested in racing like most people on the betfair forum are .
the betfair forum are like wine sommeliers , where as the general public don't really care about where it has come from or what type of grape it is, if they like it they drink it . |

Why does it need 7 people, what are they all going to do ? Are they going to use a different commentator each week (whoever happens to be on racecourse duty ?)
I hope one of the first decisions they make is to immediately cease the practice of sticking a microphone in a jockey's face the moment he pulls up. I can't stand any more of "how does it feel to win that race ?" So pleased to see the back of the existing CH4 lot. |
By:
NO, NO, NO,Not the FEMALE SMILING "ASSASSIN" please no.
By:
the racing post must have bribed ITV for Mottershead to get a gig.
He was awful on ATR Grassick is very good. |

people watch racing to punt.
they want a wee turn at the bookies. the line up does not include one person who knows how to help punters win money. How about the crazy idea of a presenter and two or three clued up punters who stick there hard earned down every week. They might not get a turn but they will have a better chance than that mob will give them. |
By:
in fairness Oli Bell is a shining beacon in the line up.
By:
By:
my team would be
Clare Balding Heading it, with Nick Luck (alternate weeks) Oli Bell.. interviews jim Mcgrath.. analysis Big mac & Chapman in the ring and Barrys Bismarck .. no more than that |
By:
We don't need all these presenters and most of us probably don't want constant chatter which the producers seem to think is necessary filler. A race commentator, pictures of proceedings, updated betting shows on the screen and nowt else would to me be paradise. There could be an interactive forum where punters/fans can chat to one another and for those who like pre-race interviews they could be on a button for those who would like to view them and where they could choose which ones they wanted to view.
By:
Unfortunately It is unlikely to work with so many people involved - more is not necessarily better as C4 proved
ITV had a great chance to do do things completely differently but I fear it is going to be the same type of production & is doomed to failure - certainly wouldn't have engaged Oily or Turner on this gig as their efforts on the racing channels leave me cold We shall see |
By:
ITV could get the job done with 5 people, and that would include the commentator. So far, it seems that 7 people have been given work (not including a commentator) and I don't know what they are all going to do. At least the CH4 deadwood has gone. I hope ITV forget about the word "analysis" and just keep it simple, it's the best way of attracting new people to the sport.

will GC have to reopen his tipping line to make ends meet??
By:
Daft as it may seem i will the morning line....as for the actual racing presentation i like a bit joviality so Matt Chapman would of been perfect, and the betting must be part of the production, so Big Mac would be my choice.

I posted previously about Hayley being attractive, but that is as far as it goes. She is so poor at presenting you have to wonder how on earth she has been given a job,in whatever capacity.
She starts every response with yes,or yeaah,in her boring, characterless tone, whatever has been said, and continually refers to other jockeys like they are Gods, and,of course, the glowing references to the trainers that gave her rides.Meanwhile none of it is of any use at all, just boring name-dropping.No homework done,as twice she has selected none runners, which is completely unprofessional. Her betting knowledge is reduced to the far too often used phrase "it could be a good each way bet".Typical fence sitting!Footie presenters aren't afraid to give a player grief when they played a shocker. Yes,ITV wants to attract an assorted audience, not just us racing aficionados, but must also accept that their team has to be talented, knowledgable, and have a bit of humor about them, and very importantly, have voices that are good to the ear,and don't drone on and on. Time will tell, but it looks like half a team, and will need to use the bench at some time. |

Don't understand why they have gone with Hayley Turner, have they never watched her ?
She is so dull and that voice soon becomes pretty annoying. All credit to her for what she achieved as a very good female jockey, but just don't think she is a good choice at all for the ITV racing team. |
