sounds about right
By:
was absolutely tanking along so why ask him up?
By:
Hadn't jumped great most of the way around. Was still travelling though.
By:
Looks like would have bolted up.
By:
Jockey HAD sunglasses on
Couldnt see the fences ![]() |
By:
who knows how much energy it used to get to the front though...
Still think Don would have won. jmo |
By:
travelling and getting up the hill two different things imo impossible to tell
By:
Wouldn't have the engine of the winner. How far would the Don have won the King George?
By:
why not pop him over & put in a short one there?
By:
Agreed about the extra furlong but he was definitely going by far the best when he fell. Djakadam was still apparently going better than Don Cossack as well but he couldn't hold the tank when he got rolling.
By:
He fell. Is the horse ok?
By:
Such a shame he fell. Seems okay.

sewter lives again 18 Mar 16 15:40
was absolutely tanking along so why ask him up? you obv never watched the race..he never asked him for anything..horse just didnt take off. |
By:
By the same distance The Don would have won at Kempton
By:
Colin said the horse is absolutely fine. I still think Paddy jumped the gun by going between horses at that stage but it is easy in front of a TV. He knew he was on the horse with the best finishing speed so why not just wait and wait again? He might not have beaten DC for stamina but he will always beat him for pace.
By:
Brennan ffs......I can see why Twiston Davies gave him the Big E.
![]() |
By:
Agree with sageform (including the easy bit in front of the tv) BUT I think Brennan could have taken a pull, reined Cue Card back at that point and popped it, rather than getting him racing between the 2 at that stage. Still a long way to go.
By:
Hunty I suggest you watch it again. He definitely goes to ask him up and then changes his mind, the horse then didn't take off
By:
TRD..absolute and utter nonsense
brennan never moved on cue card...it simply didnt take off. |
By:
I bet cue card and no complaints, brennan sat still most of the race,it didnt take off and the rest is history.
By:
Hunty You are wrong in the first instance and right on the 2nd
By:
He definitely goes to ask him up
i dont know what you're watching trd,he didnt move. |
By:
Don Cossack is probably a stronger stayer than Cue Card. He would have beaten him in the King George and I reckon he would have beaten him today as well.
By:
Agreed, they hadn't even entered CC's danger zone when he came down, we all would be expecting bot he and Vautour to be still travelling at that point of the race.
By:
I honestly don't think he'd have beaten the winner today.
Thankfully he got up alright after his fall. |
By:
Ridiculous question of course but in all seriousness Don Cossack would have beaten Cue Card in my opinion.
By:
Mark He definitely squeezes him up for a long one and the horse put down, confirmed by Colin Tizzard HTH
By:
When Silviniaco Conti fell at the same fence in 2013, loads of people thought he would have gagged up. Now he's not even deemed capable of running at the course. It was an unsatisfactory outcome, however all we know for sure is that he wasn't beaten at the time.
By:
rolly wrong yet again
....wa pppppplonka ffs |
By:
Thats it Cider. An unsatisfactory outcome.
I hope they meet again with a satisfactory outcome. |
By:
I was surprised how easily he went to the front.
It seems it's only a few punters on here who were doubting the horses stamina over the trip. The trainer would certainly have discussed it with the jockey and going to the front three out suggests that they weren't concerned about the trip at all. I'll go along with the real experts. |
By:
The point is the horse was at the top of his form this season.
They might not get him as good again. |
By:
Always going to be hard to say would he or wouldnt he but CC is different horse since his wind op and his new jockey this season, and on the ground today it is just a real shame we didnt get to see if he could had lasted the trip.
By:
What an absolutely futile thread-totally pointless
![]() |
By:
The horse was without any doubt travelling the best. Whether he would have stayed up the hill is open to conjecture, but if Paddy hadn't squeezed him up we would have found out. First time the horse has fallen in his life, although he did u/r once before
By:
trd what are you watching? he never moved on it.
By:
think cue card won have beaten Don Cossack but Vatour would have beaten cue card anyway well done Don cossack
By:
no horse is training was going past that monster up the hill yesterday, he had DJAK covered dead in two strides. just COOPER was seemingly niggling you think CC was travelling better? No your horses a bit better and just realise hes a huge horse that needs that. I mean t looked like DJAK wa travelling better than in literally within 3 strides race over. He had it won at top of hill, and did nothing in front.
I am glad tho cos next time we get them against each other ill still get a price. On 3miles + on decent ground on a wide galloping track itll take some effort to beat THE CHAMP! Don Cossack! |
By:
Hunty,If you watch it again, couple of strides before the fence Brennan gives the horse a little squeeze,as if to say I need you to ping this, the horse then just guessed at it. Why Brennan decided to make his move when he did only he will know. That downhill 3rd last is the trickiest fence on the course, considering there was still another 2 to jump after that he could have easily popped the 3rd last as he was travelling the best by miles. Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but if he could ride the race again he wouldn't have made his move when he did
