I agree with TRD.Racing.

Had he jumped it though I'm sure he would have took some catching because the horse has got both stamina and pace, and looked full of running.

It's a shame because it will take some doing to get him as fit or in that kind of form again at the age of eleven.

Sir Don won on the bridle ffs Cooper hardly touched him,you are  dreaming if you think Cue Card would have won.
Brennan would have had to throw the kitchen sink at the horse just to get second.

Gutted he fell to rob us of the final fight out that it deserved between the top 3! To me he looked to be going best but no way would I say he was a cert and probably would have been done in the run in! But would have been great to see as I didn't think sprinter was going to be good enough to do what he did on Wednesday so who's to say for sure cue card couldn't have done the same as he has looked outstanding all season and ran all the way to the line in each of his wins! But I would say it would have been most likely 60% Don cossack would have won anyway but just a shame to get robbed of the battle.

Sir Don ? FFS.

He didn't win on the bridle, he hit him after the last.
And he certainly wasn't going away.

He's rated higher 5lbs higher than the second.
Why shouldn't he beat him four lengths?

Don Cossack ran to his rating with the second.

There didn't look anything left. He only ran to form.

Cue card is rated higher than Don Cossack.
The logical conclusion is that Cue Card only had to run to form to win.

Its just really sad, there is no satisfactory conclusion that can say who's the best this season.

Don tipped up at Kempton, and of course we are told he was going to win. Then Cue Card tips up, when to my eye was going to take something out of the field very quickly.

We are then robbed of the pace and class of Cue Card trying to hold off the staying power and class of Don Cossack.

Tormenting.

^^^agree
Watched again today which i suggest everyone does ,and have to say there is some merit in thinking CC would have won but its just speculation ,although if Don C was going to win at kempton then you have to yeild to the same here ,personally i dont think you can say either would have won with any great certainty ,if if's and ands were pots and pans i would have enough to fill a fckn kitchen .
Overall CC is and enigma wrapped in a conundrum ,maybe stays maybe not ,acts on soft maybe prefers fast ,can make the running but maybe best held up ,maybe close to the pace ,likes to be on off the bridle ,ect ect ect ect ....his record speaks for itself ,maybe ran into a few good uns but when the chips were down too many times he came up short imvho .

How far would Don Cossack have won today is the question.

Might find out at punchestown...unless Don Cossack ducks.

Wrong, he was off form for quite a while. That's why he was lightly raced.
He came back to form at the start of this season.

Hunty Brennan just said if he had known the horse better he would't have made his move when he did at Cheltenham.

I think Cue Card would have won the Gold Cup by a about a length and a half.

However I also think DC would have won the King George by similar and today by 3 or 4 lengths.

All irrelevant cos we will never know.

He doesn't jump as well since being held up.

As he looked to go between DC and Djak at Chelt there wasn't much room, this may have contributed to the error. Then you could also say that being held up is helping him finish stronger.

It remains that we have been robbed of 2 pulsating finishes, we got one at Kempton but it could've been a 3 way go.

whats with the Bold Type Dr C ?

happy to discuss racing with you but bold typing me out of context is kids stuff ,leave it out please .

hope you backed CC today and won loads but i have had my eye on this one a tad longer than last couple of seasons ,did not see anything today to make me change my opinion ,do you think the horse has overachieved or as Alice suggested is everyone's hero ?

Whoops I've done it again.

I reproduced it in bold to make it clear what I was replying to.

You see in your last mess where you reproduced my post without the highlight, it isn't perfectly clear who is saying what.

I certainly recommend highlighting other people's stuff in bold or italics when you quote them. Even though it is kid's stuff.

Yes, this seems to be the case. By riding him to get the trip they are meddling with the horses decision making at his fences, although the horse seems much happier being dropped in these days, much more relaxed.

Regarding the 'how far would Cue card have won' , well his Cheltenham CV tells us he generally romps up the hill, although not at anything beyond 2m5f. However there can't really be any stamina doubts with Cue Card, especially on good ground.
He was about to stamp his authority on the race in the GC, then he crashed out. At that stage of the race i think his tactical speed would have seen him draw a couple of lengths clear coming to the last and then stay on just as well as than Don Cossack.
He acts really well around Cheltenham but there were doubts about Don Cossack being as effective.

Cue Card demolished the field today and he would have done exactly the same in The GC if he hadn't fallen

And after writing this as well:

So what does he call posting silly pictures if not kids stuff?

That King George race at Christmas is looking even stronger as time goes on. I still think Don Cossack would have edged out Cue Card at Cheltenham but I say that with no great certainty and nor can anyone. First DC tipped over in the KG, then Vautour failed to show up and CC tipped over in the GC and now CC demolishes the rest in the bowl. What IS clear is that those 3 chasers are some distance ahead of the rest.

Brennan ffs......I can see why Twiston Davies gave him the Big E.

In fairness he won a Gold Cup for him and the main reason he stopped using him was to give mounts to his son.
