Swardean, i agree with you wholeheartedly that its best for racing that balance be redressed, but id much prefer King Henderson Hobbs Pauling Skelton, them kind of guys doing the redressing.
I cannot abide Nicholls, he really is a horrible thing. I know its not nice to wish anyone bad, but i definitely couldnt care less if he never trained another winner. |

He certainly is not a likable character but like a lot of "driven" people he has his demons. This has told in relationships in his private life and his business life (owners).
Perhaps his downturn is cyclical, perhaps the shape of british racing has changed forever... Time will tell mincer |

I still think he's not doing as bad as some suggest.
He was/is good, but was never my cup of tea. I'm happier that the likes of King and Hobbs are doing well. Everything changes. Nobody stays at the top for ever. My personal dread is that, unlike most years, PN has been lying low and comes storming back at the Festival. No good reason, just that the year after year hype and fawning from the pundits got a bit wearing. We'll see. |

alan king had some lean years, after katchit.

Mr Tuesday was a good name for him. Nicholls a busted flush, not one horse with a chance in any championship race at the festival. He could be dangerous at the off meetings this year, so keep an eye on Huntingdon and Sedgefield.
By:
Still top of trainers table though
By:
It doesnt matter whether he is or not, when the prestigious races come around now, then Nicholls doesnt count.
A busted flush with a stable full of bumm horses and bumm jockeys. |
By:
What exactly did happen with him and Clive Smith? Seemed to have unravelled since then....
By:
Agree, Nicholls is finished and his stable jockey is terrible.

Major mistake Falling out with Willie Mullins

Said the reason clan des lost on Saturday was because of the ground ...and yet in his betfair coulum before the race said the going would be ideal For him

running the mark down for a grand national tilt in 2018 perhaps!

Why is mincer such a nasty, vindictive and somewhat irrational poster. I don't need a reply.
By:
Is Paul Nicolls in decline? You mean you can't make money from him anymore? I don't think so, and that's all you need to know.
By:
His decline coincides with a massive argument had with Clive Smith at one of his open days. They got in to a heated exchange about Kauto Star's future and it was in front of all his other owners, which led to Clive Smith retiring Kauto and ending there long standing relationship. A friend who was at the event told me, it wasn't pretty by all accounts.
Million and Elliott have such strong backing are are buying up all the best horses, the U.K. Trainers are not getting a look in. |
By:
Mullins not Millions, bloody predictive text.
By:
You're on a betting forum. Paul Nicholls...... in massive decline. No.
By:
Jockey or no jockey he doesnt have the horses - the last Grade one winner at the festival was Dodging Bullets but he won a terrible Ch Chase. He has proved he's a good trainer whether he'll reach the heady days again is anyone's guess but dont blame poor STD.
By:
It seems most grade 1 horses are made before they reach the stables that make them famous. It is just up to the trainers not to mess a top horses career up.

McCoy....maybe not massive but its a steady decline.........hard to see him getting a winner at Cheltenham unless its a handicap
By:
He is finnish !
By:
Horses obviously very fit as between yesterday and today all are either leading or up with the pace.
By:
making a mug of those other trainers at chepstow, horses fit and ready to go. how far.

It is like finding money in the street.
How on earth was that not favourite ????? |

when does it start to get embarrassing ??

Horse that has campaigned at the highest level constantly v a horse that won at uttoxeter.

Amazing another great days racing for the "finished" one. Nearly always fitter than the competition and ready, thankfully because some suckers subscribe to this cr@p, horses very bankable at prices.

and the first one I back today, falls at the last

He is going downhill fast.
Maybe he can get away with a 5 timer. |

Has a couple of nice types running at the Abbot tomorrow

Has to be the best card Newton Abbott have ever had.
By:
his winners aren't just winning, they're absolutely hacking up.
By:
Agreed. Perfect going and decent prize money on offer.
By:
Also willing to run horses on good ground in contrast to most of the others. The jumping of most of the Nicholls runners over the 2 days has been poetry in motion. Tizzard still struggling to get going.

Paul's not taking any prisoners this season!

easily, comfortably, easily, easily

The death of Mont Des Avaloirs didn’t make it the great day that everybody is crowing about.

I thought he was lame not dead?

Having Cobden on board all these good horses isnt helping, but his horses are fit thats for sure. How Cobden got Enrillo beat yesterday was staggering, tried to be clever instead of going 15 clear on the bridle and paid the price.
