Does Steve Palmer's betting tales still appear in the Racing Post at all ? Not bought one in years because of all the price hikes but that was a comical read on Sundays.

I often wondered what his salary must be as he bets in pretty large quantities at times.
I know tonight he says he lost £35k in a fortnight (i think that is correct?).......he has been very close to some massive wins aswell, Nearly hit a double in the golf once but the player layed up on a reachable par 5 and didn't make birdie.....Christ, i would have been suicidal.....and he very rarely lays off.

I can see why the Racing Post/bookmaking industry axis want to promote him as a 'professional punter', as he very clearly has a serious gambling problem...

Agree millhouse. It looks like I am very much in the minority but plenty of people seem to find it funny winning and losing thousands on a whole range of different sports that he can't possibly have more than tiny knowledge of each one.

Does anyone actually believe the Palmer stuff? Sunday is the only day I get the post but never read his column as I read the first paragraph once and considered it unbelievable drivel.

Please don't confuse those Coral James Blunts with proper odds compilers. That lot just sit with an Exchange screen in front of them, and that's fact, they not really sure which end of a horse does the eating etc.

Can't understand the negativity towards Stevie P...ok he gets paid for it but disclosing every punting session to RP readers is praiseworthy surely? Yes he's a bit of a maverick in his gambling style but should get credit for his honesty...and has shown that he can adapt his stakes to his situation as in last night's episode, thought the programme but much better than last week's - good luck sir.

Always amazed that he rarely lays off, even when fortunes are on the line, suppose that's to secure the value of each punt but gives an insight to the all or nothing philosophy - probably better off this way in the long run but tough keeping turnover flowing when short of cash..
