I will take this opportunity to insist that anyone who criticises this is awkward at best its weeks of profit, what's more escalating profit following on from previous profits. I personally would never criticise anyone who made it pay but good luck to everyone xxx

a possible analysis
1) first leg win singles - before anyone shouts that they aren't singles, they are at this point in time. Nothing special here except that the third favourite is generally overstaked as compared with normal dutching. This is because of the level staking plan. There is no logical reason for this overstaking. 2) first leg place singles - Choice of race is obviously very important and calls for a certain amount of skill/nous on the part of the bettor. If there is value in the place bets, then that value exists because of what is commonly called 'bad ew races'. Again the third choice seems to be overstaked. As has been noted, late non-runners (reducing 3 places to 2 in the event of backing outside) could be detrimental to the bet as a whole. 3) strategy of choosing doubles over singles placement - not clear to me if any advantage exists here. It is more convenient to the bettor especially if he is betting outside. The doubles strategy is actually very rigid in terms of staking. I know variations could be introduced by laying the second leg on here but so what? 4) the bet seems to be a safe one because of the frequency of returns - there's no denying this and I'm not trying to. This point may be linked to 3) because 3) perhaps rules out human nature (taking profit) in not going ahead with leg 2 if leg 1 is a good winner. Again it seems to come back to choice of race ( I say race in the assumption that its is always the market leaders (2 or 3) that are chosen) and the skill in so doing. 5) It will be interesting to see a much longer test - bookies seemed to survive bad ew bets (perhaps by restrictions) and I have always though that multiple bets are a useful screen in this respect. If the success of this bet rests on the place doubles (which some more detailed analysis may be able to find out) and the bet becomes more popular, then the bookies may do something about it. I'll leave it there for now. |

are all your bets placed at the time the shops offer bog?
By:
Since the withdrawal of betting tax in shop there is no advantage to be had by betting in doubles or any multiple bet . Surely the first leg should be bet in E/W singles with the exception of odds on shots (win only) then any returns be re invested in e/w singles in the second leg.

varies roida most of the time yes but if hills, for example, are standout I just use them. SPs invariable lower than best available
By:
Incorrect sunnyleith its the place doubles that make the profit. Eg bet one may typically have 3 x £30 win singles and 3 x £50 place singles going on to bet two. Its the place money you want. Win bets lose over time.
By:
why not lay off the win parts on here then?
By:
I've never done an equally divided bet, but would anyone say that would be any better for this bet if the money is made from the places?
By:
probably swings and roundabouts s kenbo
if you didn't get the winner of either leg then e.d. would definitely be worse even of you did get the winner, I suspect a short priced winner only would also be worse |
