Ffos Las, Chepstow and Brighton should be downgraded to a new Grade 5.
How can Ayr be the same grade as Newbury? Nearly all the racing there is crap. |

Bizarre list, Chelmsford City a grade 3 track

Epsom 1,Sandown 2
![]() in terms of strength in depth over the season i only consider Ascot,Doncaster,Goodwood,Haydock,Newbury,Newmarket,Sandown and York to be Grade 1 tracks on the flat and Aintree,Ascot,Cheltenham,Doncaster,Haydock,Kempton,Newbury,Sandown over the jumps. If you took the Derby meeting away the quality of racing at Epsom is on a par with Lingfield. |
By:
Epsom is a special case: grade 1 on the first weekend in June and rubbish the rest of the year.
By:
Some of those desciptions are a bit odd. Windsor is a very funny pear. York is no longer horseshoe. Southwell turf is not at all stiff.

Lingfield (AW) galloping! Who wrote this dross?
By:
NH Grade 1 tracks are currently Aintree, Ascot, Ayr, Cheltenham, Doncaster, Haydock, Kempton, Newbury, Newcastle and Sandown. The list can change though over the years.
By:
From memory they can change each year. It depended on prize money over a period of time.

Surely have to also question it being listed as 'Midlands' too - obviously South?? |
By:
So South its now SUNK.
By:
Newbury should be G1 for both codes - the quality of the 2 & 3 year old maidens as strong as most other venues. Never considered Chester to be in the Midlands - was on the booze there last weekend, nothing with a Midland feel about the place.
