Im trying to find the distance of a circuit at fontwell, impossible to find.
Im probably not searching correctly. |

Reckon it's about 1m 1f, IS.
Just watched it again and I do just wonder whether she has an "ah f***" moment about halfway between the last and the winning line but rightly realises that she's screwed up - hence pulling up after crossing the line as quickly as she did. At no point during the race is she looking behind her, trying to see how other horses are travelling.... |

i assume this gang threatened the entire field to make sure Very Noble won, as the winner was strong in the market and it wasnt just a lay of her horse. the rest of course did a better job than Lucy, who thought she would be okay sitting in front and not moving till the race was finished. no way would those actions be suspicious in her opinion.
a mental aberration, no more or no less, in my opinion of course. will be the first to come on here and say i was wrong when the real story breaks in the press. |

thanks wft
so how could she get it mixed up ? |
|
By:
IMHO is it too much to ask that in cases like this the stewards can order that the horse in question be treated as a non runner for betting purposes. Anyone backing that today has every right to feel sick

Very easy to get confused counting to 2, IS.

I want to think she made a genuine mistake but she would had run 3miles if her mistake was valid.

I have just watched the race on Youtube.
It is a bizarre incident to say the least. What was Lucy thinking? How could she not have sensed the other jockeys around her riding out a finish? If this was a genuine mistake then she must be feeling dreadful about it. I do feel sorry for her. Imagine having to walk back in after that? My advice to her would be that one day she won't be feeling so bad about this so why not start feeling not so bad about it right now ![]() I feel for anyone who backed the horse, too. They have every right to be very cross about this. A very unfortunate event but worse things happen. |

It isn't just today that we found out this girl couldn't ride racehorses ....anybody who backed her needs to have a good look at themselves....even if she is riding the best horse ...you still can't back her....

I seriously doubt that she miscalculated. It was obvious that the eventual winner was being ridden in earnest. She could see that this WAS the end of the race! Her reaction on passing the line was NOT that of someone expecting another circuit. We have seen jockeys miscalculate in the past and this did not resemble such occurrences IMO.I reckon that the disappearance of the likely winner made losing this race a tougher prospect. Particularly on a horse that was cruising along regardless of the pilot. Barry Brogan at least leapt off one that was left in a similar situation.

Sirop De Menthe due to run at Plumpton today, but there's an inspection. Lucy due to be in the saddle, again!

Of 83 rides in the last 12 months 77 have been for Mrs Gardner (presumably her mum).
That tells you what high regard she is held in as a rider by the training fraternity! The BHA should revoke her license and issue her with an amateur rider's license! |
|
By:
Still a runner today-wonder if she will ride a finish a circuit early today.

It's win two races ago was over same trip ,at Plumpton.
Ran 3f.further yesterday having been entered for today's race at Plumpton back to 16f. 2/1 fav at moment. Whether the ride yesterday was a genuine mistake or not and no matter how ethically upstanding the trainer and connections might be,surely this scenario brings racing into disrepute. Oh but don't be concerned. The BHA is spending millions on 'integrity',so the 'best racing in the World' is safe from trainers doing whatever it takes (within the rules of course) to get their runners' handicap marks down to a point where they can take full advantage. As long as bookies and the 'Old Guard' have their way handicaps will be the mainstay of British racing and there will never be an end to countless daily non-triers. |
|
By:
with daily prize levels at what they are, is it little surprise our racing is where it is?
yesterday was nothing more than a horrendous mistake but i do agree that someone should have a quiet word with her today to not run the horse. |
|
By:
does not matter how much prize money you give them......never happy
they will make money by losing races on win and place markets unfortunately..... as for the ride yesterday backers who suffer most myself i would prefer a large fine rather than a i4 day ban that would help them concentrate.......... you make a big **** up at work....your lucky to keep your job |
