did they ask why she never went out for another circut then and was the 1st horse pulled up after the line, not compatable with somone thinking there was a lap to go,she should have thought look at that loon riding out with a circuit still to go,when did she realise she,d got it wrong,if we believe her obviously well before the line because she,d slowed to a trot by then

That was embarrassing. They had obviously laid the horse big

wht did she think the other 2 horses before the last were 40 yds wide if there was another circuit to go

horses dont tend to race the width of the hurdles if theres a circuit still to go, even if she made a mistake she must have known at the last hence her barely trotting over the line,so wht didnt she ride it soon as she realised

Race 6 - 4:40pm THE totepoolliveinfo.com HANDICAP HURDLE RACE (CLASS 4)
The Stewards held an enquiry into the running and riding of SIROP DE MENTHE (FR), ridden by Lucy Gardner, and trained by Susan Gardner, which was not asked for any effort on the run in before finishing second, beaten 4 ½ lengths for first place. They interviewed the rider and the trainer and heard a report from the Veterinary Officer. The rider stated that she had mistaken the race distance, thinking she had another circuit to go before the finish and therefore she had not ridden the gelding out. Having heard her evidence and viewed recordings of the race the Stewards found the rider in breach of Rule (B)59.3.2.2. They suspended her for 14 days as follows: Sunday 8, Monday 9, Tuesday 10, Wednesday 11, Thursday 12, Friday 13, Saturday 14, Sunday 15, Monday 16, Tuesday 17, Wednesday 18, Thursday 19, Friday 20 and Saturday 21 March 2015.

Plenty of money for the winner, believe it was 10/1 last night.

14 days is absurdly lenient, 30 days should have been the very least she should have got.

14 days is absolutely disgusting, error or not. Like a previous poster has said she'll probably have very few rides within this time so where is the punishment? Punters will have lost money on this incident......they are the ones that have been punished not the jockey.
Surely a minimum 6 months ban would have been more suitable in this instance.(Proportionate to the amount of potential rides~).
Surely this leaves the door wide open to any possible future incidents, ie lay your horse, put a claimer on with the instruction to ride your race and if your in with a winning just sit still and when questioned say that you thought there was another circuit?

thats true muff........a  young female rider like her will be  forgiven and the busines  has  been done...if  it  was a tony culhane type  of jock  he would have been lynched  from the nearest  tree

14 days just gives the useless stewards license to reduce JM's ban.

14  days is saying....do what  you like ....the punishment does not in any way fit the crime... this  isnt mccoy  who could lose 60  rides  in 14  days ...and some important big race rides.....how many on average  would she lose ?...and how many of them would she be widely  considerd  to have a good chance of winning ?  the level of punishment  promotes corruption

one hypothetical sideline (to me anyhow) is that if the winner hadnt been able to get past on the run-in, bearing in mind no other horse did, there would have been the bizarre spectacle of the jockey setting off for another circuit having already won the race. If that had happened, no doubt the stewards would have wanted a word about it, and would they have still banned her for misjudging the number of circuits, or would they have let it go as an incidental irrelevance cos shed won the race ??

In the last 14 days she's had 2 rides at Exeter, so its not going to cost her on the riding front.

But backing Very Noble from 10's to 3's is very profitable, and that person must be very happy.

interesting  but  clearly  no ban ......can only ban if a  law  has been breached ........i  would not  think  there is a law in the book that says  if  one has  won a race  , one  is not allowed  to  continue on another  circuit

hypothetically  , if someone like  mccoy  did  the same  crime, i  would assume  that the ban would be similar...but clearly  the punishment  would be hugely greater given the high profile  and the loss of earnings  and high profile rides

Joke. The race was 2m2f110yds. If she thought there was another circuit to go, just how long did she think this hurdle race was?

Remember the criminal fraternity threatened George Moore because he wouldn't pull horses and as a result he left his position as Murless's jockey and returned to his homeland. Not saying that a gang threatened Lucy , but it's a possible explanation for what happened.

"Returning after the race, Gardner said, "I thought there was another circuit to go.  I hold my hands up.  What an idiot I've been.  I've never done anything like that before."

Apparently she was "mortified".

if your riding a 2 miler and your on the snaff thinking you,ve the best part of 2 miles to go,must have thought she was on some horse and with everyone else beaten a distance or rowing away ,she must have thought she was going to win by a circuit, LaughLaugh

Cacique, she was injured on Flying Award at Bangor on 6th February and only came back at Exeter.  She would have ridden more than two.

I thought we were watching possibly the greatest hurdler since Istabraq in action. A steed that could win without even the slightest coercion - maybe a gentle ruffling of its ears and it was away. Even a possible Late entry for the champion hurdle, the gold cup and the grand national. Maybe even the derby.

I agree - the race stank to me.  If McCririck gets his whip ban incorporated, will all races look like that?
