Note to self:
Don't dare ask the question was Quevega campaigned at the highest level of the sport. |
|
By:
Did you dare to ask the highest level of the sport or refer to her victories as plated class??
|
|
By:
Diluting the festival with races like the one for mares, meant we were denied the chance to see Quevega take on the big boys in the Champion Hurdle or the World Hurdle. So whichever way Banks wanted to put it, he had a point.

the whole show and every guest was a complete shower today everyone agreed more than that was the certainty of all time better than leaving money in the bank for 10 years, Actually it was just Banks that said this stupid comment. Didn't hear anyone else agreeing to the statement. |
|
By:
geoff, did you go on the morning line just to wind ruby up? because you certainly succeeded.
|
|
By:
the mares race might be little more than a seller this year
|
|
By:
your wrong facts[ nowt new there ] walsh was worse said your basicaly getting a price for the horse to jump round ,erh no he jumoped round and hot beat a country mile,

Banks is a bookie funny he said that and more of that got beat.

No Ashleigh - I just asked the question that a lot of people have asked - and the decision some have criticised. That she should have taken on at least one CH. And of course was Denman effectively finished off by his outstanding performance in the 2nd Hennessy (although his second in the GC after injury was also punishing)
I'm not being paid to sit and tell everyone they're great, nor in any way to argue every point mindlessly. It's nothing to do with the quality of either Walsh or Quevega. Clearly both are outstanding. It's about healthy debate. Nor do I see it as my job to try to 'outform' geniuses like Segal. Some take the view Ruby shouldn't be questioned. His evident skill as one of the true great pilots doesn't preclude debating targets and raising issues many have discussed As for the quip about 'the selling plate at the festival'- one is allowed to have a little fun in life eh? Isn't that what people have been asking for from the Morning Line? Or is it the case that whatever format is displayed - they'd gripe anyway? |
|
By:
Just watched now on net after reading this as I've now watched the Morning Line for a long, long time. Frankly it was entertaining as Best actually said something mildly controversial. Tanya's wince when he called the Mares race a seller was priceless. Anyway always good to see Walsh being goaded for once after all the arse licking these jockeys always get on air.
If Best was on more often I might actually watch it. |

Note to self: Don't dare ask the question was Quevega campaigned at the highest level of the sport. P.s also note to self: Must try not to make a total tw*t of myself on the television. |

So, Mr Banks, are you going to get a semi regular slot on the show.
First time i have watched the whole hour for ages. And a very enjoyable watch it was too. |

Must admit sportsadmirer, I spoke to you last week at chelt , whilst standing up for a rival firm ( the width of our bookmakers stand was questioned ), and thought you were a good shout to join The morning line, the only way to get the viewers back on track in their droves is to have ,
Yourself, Barry Dennis, Big Mac , Jim McGrath, francome, Tom Segal and Clair balding as host... |
|
By:
lol. I think the guys on the show now get a pretty bad rub. Most people seem to have a 'view' now on who they think should be on - look i had fun, but its made easier because Luck pulls it together - Segal provides the expertise. Ruby? Well he just hates Bookies - but what a pilot!
|
|
By:
banks , i think it was when you said something along the lines of " keeping the style ( something like that ) on this end of the couch , apart from segal" that riled ruby to begin with

By:
Must admit I liked the one about the restaurant in York where Geoff was joined by Simon Clare......all they were short was David Williams from Ladbrokes.....that would have been a real treble.....
|
|
By:
Geoff..You should gave said to Ruby, "she only beat L'unique by 1.1/2 lengths and SHE got beat by Polly peachum , who pulled up in a two bob race at Kempton last week......the form is crap....and let us (sitting in the safety of our homes) watch Ruby's face..![]() |

Actually I've never had dinner with Simon Clare at York. Rocket Ronnie is making the whole thing up

Hides is a bit rich. I think I pick my battles like any other gambler. Bear in mind not just about laying a world hurdle winner- who beat Annie Power giving 7 pounds at 1/2 - but the ppossibility of laying the second favourite each way
capiche? |

Geoff what was the crack with your dad/ Francome and that Fred Winter hurdler of which I cant quite recall its name many moons ago.
Enjoyed the show on sat you certainly livened it up a bit. Ruby was seething but the selling platecomment was antagonist to say the least |
|
By:
The horse was called (would you believe) STOPPED!

By:
Thanks Roy and Geoff - you know there really isn't a 'selling plate' at the Festival :)
FACTS - troll someone else eh - you've become a little sad. I understand the internet has given you a platform to spout unpleasantness anonymously to whoever, but it really doesn't make you more of a man because you've discovered it. |

Ruby Walsh knows that mares race is third rate otherwise he wouldn't have bitten. Good job he hadn't run up a sequence in that cross country dog heat!

I must say that in fairness to Banks.....hes coming on here and not hiding his identity so hes a cockshot for anybody who cares to take a pop at him.....without relieving their mask.....
He may not be everyones cup of tea but that statement could be applied to most people.....likewise Walsh isn't either....does he bring anything to the table?.....id say yes.....would I rather listen to him than listen to Mick Fitzgerald and any one of them bookies PR's.....id say yes...... Theres lots of jealousy floating here on this thread......and I for one think he brightened the show up.....maybe it was about time that somebody with no manner was given something to think about......far too many over the years have bowed down to him...and when somebody gave him a bit of stick....he wasn't able to hand it as well as when he gives it..... |

murphys dog he can give it but he cant take it!! having said that hes the best nh jockey ever.
