Dont even know where to start with that clown Geoff Banks, said one half amusing comment about Jim Best and that's about all he contributed. Got his facts wrong about Denman at the start, sits there like he's a god, tells Ruby he apparently rides 7 nutters per day and was actually embarrassed for him at the end regarding the Quevega comment. I actually forgot about him flashing his £50 notes in front of the camera alongside his Betfair b*tch with the Google Glasses. Don't know why The Morning Line continue to allow pr*cks like him and Tom Segal on the show. Guarantee Ruby won't be back.

100% correct Paterson, banks is a supercilious English count

What an arse that Banks is. Twice you could hear a pin drop when he butted in with comments about a different horse to the one everybody else was talking about. He can only hear his own voice.

He's scottish

I have forgot more than Banksy knows about betting and horse racing, yet he struts about like he is the fountain of knowledge

Made a change from guests / pundits kissing jockeys' @rses
![]() They should have Banks on every week imo, made the show much more entertaining, even if some of it was embarrassing ![]() |

By:
"made the show much more entertaining"
agree some of it was a bit embarrassing, but he did liven things up a bit, just like his dad. ![]() |
|
By:
good article about his old man, John.
He would be appalled at Geoffrey's behaviour ![]() http://tinyurl.com/pyfhvdx |

What's all the sl&gging of Bank's all about...jeez, we moan like fook when these people don't put the awkward stuff to these racing people and when someone does just that we're giving him stick.
He basically said that Quevega has been competing in the joke race at the festival, calling it the selling plate of the festival.....on the money and well done that man is what I say. |
|
By:
I was thinking the same, duffy. Everybody says how boring the show is and then someone livens it up and they all hate him for it.

|
By:
yep he put some life back into the program, just what CH4 racing needs someone with an opinion and not afraid to rock the boat.Poor Ruby dangling on the end of his hook ready to explode.
|
|
By:
Personally, i would have him on every week.
i only watched because he and ruby were on, a really enjoyable hour. |

Quevega won 3 grade 1s and about 700K dont know how many NH mares have bettered that. What other races could Quevega have won at the festival - she definitely would not have beaten Big Bucks.
|
|
By:
It just shows how much some people are missing McCririck. Today they had someone to hate.
|
|
By:
she definitely would not have beaten Big Bucks.
perhaps they should have given her the chance to. |
|
By:
Indeed, Mullins never gave the mare a chance at the very top level.
|
|
By:
My mistake Quevega won four grade 1s and ran in six grade 1s all of which were open races. She ran 3rd in an Irish champion hurdle which included Punjabi the reigning Chelt champion hurdler. You can take it that the owners were more than satisified with how she was campaigned. She also suffered a serious injury at one stage and there was always the danger that it would resurface.
|
|
By:
Banks is a Grade 1 Toooool It was embarassing to watch and hear him. Cant say I find RW particularly pleasant either but I am glad he shut the T_ss*r up. Knowing how hard it is to have a winning horse, to belittle Quevega's career show's his arrogance and how pathetic he is. Hopefully they find another bookmaker when required instead of him.

By:
Banks is obviously trying to get the permanent gig with C4, as successor to McCririck, trying to be controversial and argumentative whenever possible.
It's a pity his dress sense, and attractiveness to the ladies, does not match that of McCririck ! ![]() |
|
By:
If the producers bring Banks back (, because he caused ' controversy ' i) in the hope this move would increase viewing figs.would prove once and for all the contempt they have for their audience.

sat in piccolino restaurant in York after a bad day, and who was sat at the next table but the smarmby banks acting and sounding like a top restaurant critic, I thought it couldn't get any worse then who joined him Simon Claire, I spent ten minutes listening to them hero worship each other and asked the waitress to cancel my dessert, paid and left!
|
|
By:
Simon Claire - the face that just invites a slap.
I have read stuff from Banks' webiste when links have been put up here, and have been decent imo and lots of common sense and knowledge. Today he was just trying to be controversial for the sake of it and it was a bit cringeworthy to say the least. |
|
By:
Magic - I agree Geoff has alot of sensible input and is very switched on with regards matters facing on-course bookmakers but he wasn't shown in the best light today, and the champagne lifestyle that he portrays won't endeer him to the average Joe watching.....
|

By:
I think he is class, He wants to stand out from the crowd. If your a "yes" man and just agree your just a number but this guy has something about him I just love, I read about his father not so long ago another very interesting chap by all accounts. He didn't sit on the fence either always trying to go against the big four bookmakers. he loved to get noticed driving round in his yellow rolls Royce and having a yellow chopper he was some "dude" as well John Banks Scotlands finest bookie if you have time it is worth a read . you may all think what you like about this fellow but if you were making the money he has made and money he will make you too could do act and say what every the hell you like.

I agree about John Banks - a fascinating character - but today his son was an embarrassment. His big problem was that he had prepared his one-liners (Denman, Quevega) and forced them in to the conversation in the wrong places. On two separate occasions, he misunderstood which horses the others were talking about and talked nonsense as a result. The rest of them were great though...well worth watching, IMO.

If Banks had started a thread on here, equating the Mares Hurdle at the festival to a seller, he would have been told to stop fishing cuz it's sh!t bait, so how funny it was to see Ruby absolutely seething

I wouldn't be surprised if we don't see Banks on the telly again, cuz it's the same with Winstanley, you can't be seen to be having a go. They just want to live in an utopic world where we all love each other and everything is perfect, horses are great, jockeys are great, trainers are great...

If Banks had started a thread on here, equating the Mares Hurdle at the festival to a seller, he would have been told to stop fishing cuz it's sh!t bait, so how funny it was to see Ruby absolutely seething Except Banks was being serious. That's the measure of what a tw*t he is. |

Say what you will, but he's got everyone on here talking about the programme again. Barely anything said about the Morning Line for months now except for how boring it is. Perhaps some prefer it that way.

the whole show and every guest was a complete shower today
everyone agreed more than that was the certainty of all time better than leaving money in the bank for 10 years, then 8 hours later the great after timer of all time jimbo came on to tell us .that the signs were all there and obvious MTT wouldnt win and only give way after the last even the cluless holt new he wasnt travellin down the back, then the whole ch 4 team agreed irving was the lay of the day nearly died cant jump overated shocking price etc, hoses up jumps perfectly even winged 3 of them jockey agreed, and the idiot jimbo arrives back on the scene to say he disagreed with the jockey and it was still an iffy round of jumping, we,ll forget about the concensus that the mullins horse by the end of the season will show he,s got 2 stone in hand, like the other 44 handicap losers mullin s has had in the uk |
|
By:
1st time poster - you beat me to it. I was going to post the same thing about MTT. As soon as the big drift started jimbo was 'Jonjos horses hit & miss, 1st time tongue tie, withdrawn last week'. All info readily available in the morning when they said it should be 2/9 and buying money.
