I thought Jockey Club Racecourses were one of the wiser to such self-interest that might or might not be in-play Do the racecourses have a copy of the Ring Lists to hand when such discussions are taking place?  Perhaps somebody should post them one (we don't do email remember) so they are to hand at all times

NOW LETS IMAGINE YOU ARE RUNNING THE RIP OFF THAT IS CHESTERBET,YOU HAVE A NICE COSY RELATIONSHIP WITH THIS SITE SO WHEN ALL THE PUNTERS LATCH ON TO ONE HORSE YOU HAVE TO LAY IT OFF AS YOU DONT STAND THEM YOU ARE TRYING TO WORK LIKE THE TOTE,THE HORSE IN QUESTION IS 2/1 IN THE RING,2.97 ON HERE AND THEY ARE ALREADY AT THE POST,I WOULD SUGGEST CHESTERBETS LIABILITY IS THEN FED INTO HERE TOTALLY COLLAPSING THE PRICE OF THE HORSE(WHICH COINCIDENTLY SEEMS TO HAPPEN AN AWFUL LOT AT CHESTER)THE SP RETURN IS 6/4 AND THE PUNTER WHO CANT TAKE A PRICE IS RETURNED 5/4 HAPPY DAYS.WHEN THE FURIOUS PUNTER WANTS TO COMPLAIN ABOUT CHESTERBET WHO DO THEY COMPLAIN TO????? WHERE ARE THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS DISPLAYED FOR CHESTERBET?????? AND I KNOW FOR A FACT THAT THE VAST MAJORITY OF COMPLAINTS TO THE AGT RING OFFICIALS ARE REGARDING CHESTERBET,AND TO TOP IT OFF GOOD LUCK TRYING TO FIND ANY PREVIOUS DIVIDENS DECLARED BY CHESTERBET.ONCE AGAIN I ASK THE QUESTION"HOW ARE THEY ALLOWED TO GET AWAY WITH IT"

wouldn't have thought laying off would be part of the Chesterbet operation because of the large overround.

they use exchanges quite heavily on the win market to balance to a 20% plus profit each race , st

DONT THINK THERE IS ANY DOUBT THAT THEY USE THE EXCHANGES,IF CHESTER AND OTHER RACECOURSES THINK THAT JOINING THE CULTURE OF RIP OFF BRITAIN IS THE FUTURE THEN THERE IS NO FUTURE!

doesn't make a great deal of sense to me (chesterbet laying off on the exchange) when they know that the only price they have to pay out on is (SP - 10%).
they must be giving money away with this strategy shirley?

Don't forget this place is a major sponsor there now and will presumably be so for the foreseeable future if the course/this place working in partnership

Chesterbet isn't like the tote. Just because chesterbet appear to have an inflated over-round, doesn't mean they couldn't have liabilities on a race, especially at Bangor.

In a small field novice hurdle, they could end up only "laying" one horse. Doesn't matter what sp is returned, it would still be a loser.

Imagine the damage a last minute "coup" could do on the chesterbet machines if they didn't have access to the exchanges. If only I could arrange one Mischief

would expect it to be a certainty for a commission free account too
By:

why would somebody want to arrange a coup at SP minus 10%?

you never heard of the knock out swift?
By:

When: 11 Aug 14 12:47
yes - do you think it can still be worked today?
By:

When: 11 Aug 14 12:51
the knockout - the placing of bets in the ring with the sole intention of inflating the SP so that big off-course bets can profit
By:
swift-tuttle
When: 11 Aug 14 12:53
not sure it could be worked today with the intervention of exchanges
By:

That's why the Sawyer said "if they didn't have access to the exchanges"

are chester bookmakers allowed to display a sign on their boards saying
ALL PRICES OFFERED 10% LARGER THAN CHESTERBET GUARANTEED

having spoke to the chap running chesterbet i haven't seen much mention of how the bet actually works on here, apologies if i have missed a post...and i too think this is a horrible bet

my reading of the bet is that chesterbet put prices on a board but that is not the price you are actually getting ie if you back a horse at say 10-1 for example, that isn't the actual price you are getting...the way the bet actually works is they give you an sp return at 10%(or at least this was how i read it) less of what the bookmakers return price is...so if the bookies return 11-2 you get around 5-1 for your money but this doesn't get away from the fact that if the said horse is backed from 10-1 to 11-2 you aren't actually getting say 9-1 all you get is the 5-1 return

so in short the way the bet works is you as a punter just get an sp return even if you get on early...it really is a horrible bet...sick in fact

RR,YOU WOULD THINK THEY WERE NUTTERS IF YOU DIDNT KNOW THAT EVERYTHING THEY SAY IS TRUE,THE BIT I FOUND MOST AMUSING WAS WHEN THE WIFE CAME HOME BLISSFULLY UNAWARE OF WHAT WAS GOING ON! A BIT LIKE THE PUNTERS THAT BET WITH CHESTERBETLaughLaughLaugh

I bet with the same indy as these lads, he will give the best price that billys, lads and korals are giving on any race, no refer to trader, no you can only have a pony on, and I even get the fractions, winning accounts never closed and more importantly he takes the wife's bets without telling her she can only have sp on unlike my firm, so no evening agro although we usually make it up by bedtimeBlush

He's a true gent and the staff are polite professional and knowledgeable, unlike some shops staff who would rather be on their iPhones on Facebook or twitter or even arranging their social life before serving the punter.

I have referred many a friend to this indy and I can guarantee you none of them have regretted it

perhaps the gambling commision will do summet about on course bookies offering a sixth of the odds each way and p1siing off 2 mins after racing so people cant collect their money after the last race !

I have been a punter for over 35 years and have dealt with many on and off course bookies and never had a problem with any of them.

I now work for a high street bookies and have daily problems with punter trying to rip us off, even down to the oap's saying the 49ers have been filled in wrong
By:

When: 12 Aug 14 22:04
why ?

not allowed to go 1/6th odds

no racecourse bookmaker could physically pack down in 2 mins

it was the gambling commission who brought the change in place terms in the first place
