I hope if Chester do reinvest their profits from their rip off scheme it is spent on the drainage (sewer)system in Tatts.Last time I was there when it rained it was a disgraceful health risk,it was an open sewer. The place should have been closed down immediately & not reopened until a complete new sewer/drain system was installed.I wonder if the citys health & safety people were informed of the matter & did they take any action?
Chester should at least have been charged for not ensuring their drainage / sewer system was adequate & was properly maintained. The place would have been a safer place to be in the middle ages than it was that day.

I am not sure what the issue is here?   There are various punting suppliers each with their own margins and pros/cons

- Betfair - back to 100%
- Tatts books - back to 110%
- Chester bet - back to 120%
- Cheap enclosures - back to 130%
- Centaur Centre (Chelt) - back to 140%

cheap enclosures 130 % you must be joking theres more value for the punter in those rings than anywhere especially around the midlands/chester/haydock areas.

Chester walled city drainage may not be modern enough to cope with deluge.

One wonders if the Chester Bet profits go towards hosting the Polo events and other non racing events like Pop Music.

The Christmas Winter Wonderland was a very poor effort.
They may have relied on the rent from the traders but I didn't see many buyers and think they might struggle to get the traders back next year.

SO NOT ONLY DO CHESTER RACECOURSE THINK THEY CAN TREAT ONCOURSE BOOKMAKERS LIKE SOMETHING THEY HAVE WIPED OFF THEIR SHOE,BUT CHARGE THEM A MARKETING FEE ON TOP OF EVERY OTHER RIP OFF,AND THINK THEY CAN GET AWAY WITH IT,THEY MIGHT BE IN FOR A BIT OF A SURPRISE.I FEEL THE PURCHASE OF A MEGAPHONE(CAN BE PICKED UP QUITE CHEAPLY ON E BAY PRICES RANGING FROM £10 TO £50 FOR ONE THAT SHOULD BE EFFECTIVE) MAY BE IN ORDER.ONE CAN ONLY IMAGINE THE SCENE WHEN CHESTERS MAN ON THE PA FINISHES TELLING THE PUBLIC HOW THEY CAN GET RIPPED OFF WITH CHESTER BET,OR CONNECT VIA WI FI TO THIS EXCHANGE,ONLY FOR A BARRAGE OF MEGA PHONES TO START "SELF MARKETING" SHOULD BE VERY INTERESTINGLaughLaughLaughLaughLaughLaugh

I am not a fan of Chester Racecourse management but I don't understand the fuss. What's the difference between Chesterbet and the Tote? They both operate at very high margins to fund the people who go around collecting small bets from lazy punters while the real gamblers go to the books or use their handhelds.

The next major complaint on here is going to be that the price of ale is expensive compared with Lidl.

"THE FUSS" RYDAL IS THAT CHESTER RACECOURSE RIP BOTH THE PUBLIC AND MOST OF THE RACECOURSE BOOKMAKERS OFF TO SOME TUNE,THEY DONT OPERATE A FAIR OR LEVEL PLAYING FIELD AND TREAT BOTH BOOKMAKER AND PUBLIC WITH UTTER CONTEMPT! HOPE THIS HELPS.

Now I understand that chester racecourse may not treat the on-course bookmakers very well as they are looking after their own product(chesterbet.) However what I struggle to get my head around is the fact that some on-course bookies complain about how unfair chesterbet is to the public, surely the worse that it is means it's better for the oncourse books? E.g if they took bets at s.p rather than s.p - 10% then the books would be in real trouble!
By:

WILL,CHESTERBET ARE NO THREAT TO THE ONCOURSE BOOKMAKERS WHATSOEVER,BUT THE TROUBLE IS THAT MOST ONCOURSE BOOKMAKERS ARE BEING CHARGED A RIDICULOUS AMOUNT OF MONEY TO STAND,CHESTER MAKE IT AS DIFFICULT AS POSSIBLE FOR BOOKMAKERS TO OPERATE BY PURPOSELY FILTERING RACEGOERS TO THE CHESTERBET OUTLETS(WHICH INCIDENTALLY ARE MADE TO LOOK LIKE ONCOURSE BOOKMAKERS JOINTS)BY RUNNING DOWN THE FACILITIES IN THE TRADITIONAL RINGS,THIS COMBINED WITH MAKING EVERYTHING AS DIFFICULT AS POSSIBLE IE REGUARDING THE TRANSPORTATION OF ALL THE REQUIRED EQUIPMENT,THEY ARE WHATS KNOWN AS TAKING THE PISS!
By:
factmachine
When: 05 Aug 14 21:54
THE FACT IS THAT CHESTERBET KNOW THEY CANT COMPETE WITH THE ONCOURSE BOOKS SO THESE ARE THE ONLY OPTIONS OPEN TO THEM,PRICE THE ONCOURSE BOOKS OUT OR MAKE IT AS AWKWARD AS POSSIBLE FOR THEM TO OPERATE!

Time the bookies got a pair and stood up for themselves they didn't do it at the negotiating stage and look at the mess most of you are in now this is just history repeating its self and if you don't do something soon more and more racecourses will find new ways to make it awkward and less viable for the trade to survive look at Ayr most days nobody bets in tatts they pay ridiculous fees to bet in the "new areas" instead of sticking together and working in Tatts dont tell me the punters wouldnt come round then their is all the other problems ie Betfred doing what he wants in the ring racecoures providing their own betting pool which will spread to other courses so boys get apair and stand up and be counted or just sit back and watch the inevitable and yes I used to be a on course bookmaker but fortunately got out

There are two chances of Bookmakers growing a pair and striking back at the racecourses and they are slim and none and we all know where slim is.

SPOT ON 777,AS IM SURE YOU ARE WELL AWARE THOUGH WE HAVE BEEN LET DOWN AT ALMOST EVERY STAGE BY OUR SO CALLED NEGOTIATORS(ILLUMINATI) WHO HAVE ONLY PROTECTED THEIR OWN INTERESTS AND HAVE IN FACT HAVE ACTIVELY CONTRIBUTED TO THE DEMISE OF THE BETTING RINGS.THE ONLY WAY FORWARD I BELIEVE IS UNILATERAL ACTION FROM INDIVIDUAL BOOKMAKERS AS OUR ORGANISATIONS ARE TOTALLY USELESS!
By:
777
When: 06 Aug 14 13:00
Factmachine the problem is when the individual does it the racecourse wont take notice as you then become one or two disgruntled bookies (Illuminati will actively encourage racecourses to believe this as well in my opinion)and will unfortunately get nowhere this would have to be done with a very large number of the attending pitch holders to have any chance of success ps better to do it at a meeting covered by Channel 4 for maximum effect. You'vegotit you are right but if you don't try something you know where its all going to end for the majority of bookies

Another Racecourse that has no interest in bookies PERTH they build a new stand and dont have direct access to Tatts ring and what happens NOTHING last sunday meeting they channel everyone into center of course making business in tatts almost unworkable for some what will be done  1 the tatts books will all object to Perth Executive 2 The books that went away early will be reimbursed 3 NOTHING.  Answers on a postcard

777,THE CURRENT SITUATION(AS YOU ARE WELL AWARE) IS AKIN TO THE MEDIEVAL PRACTICE OF THE WITCHES DUCKING STOOL,IF THEY FLOATED THEY WERE GUILTY IF THEY DROWNED INNOCENT,THAT WAS THE CHOICE WE HAD WHEN SIGNING OUR RACECOURSE CONTRACTS,IE=NO CHOICE! WE DIDNT SIGN THEN WE COULDNT BET!ALTHOUGH I TOTALLY AGREE SOMETHING HAS TO BE DONE BUT AS YOU KNOW YOU WILL NEVER GET AGREEMENT AMONGST BOOKMAKERS,SO INDIVIDUAL ACTION IS THE ONLY WAY FORWARD I FEAR.

chester  terms and conditions rule 36 subsection 4c , any oncourse bookmaker found to be using a megaphone in any enclosure on racedays will be taken into the winners enclosure and publicly flogged within an inch of  their lives before being fined double the marketing fee and ritualy disemboweled in front of a magnificently presented chesterbet terminal .

why don't all the bookies get together and all agree not to turn up for the next chester meeting , surely that's the best option
By:

When: 07 Aug 14 14:14
the effect of such an action would be unclear imo

hypothetical anyway as you could never get on-course books to agree, the thing that they are angry about is the fact that some 'mug' money is going to chesterbet instead of in their satchels

I don't think you will ever get all of the bookies to agree and miss a meeting as chesterbet is only a nuisance for some and not all oncourse books.
The 6 or seven pitches in the middle are probably delighted they are pushing their product as it means the 6/7 books will never be increased. What's good for one book is not always what suits everyone.
In my opinion of course.

The only way to defeat a school bully who is pinching all your pocket money is to stand up to them and boycott one busy meeting, the mickey mouse Chesterbet windows would never be able to service all the punter. There would be huge queues and the punter would be up in arms if they could not get a bet on after paying their exorbitant entrance fee, They would soon start altering the way they deal with the book's when they find the meeting cannot work with out a good supply of on course bookies willing to take bets. Surely a bit of lost revenue for one meeting is not too higher price to pay for giving those money grabbing shyster a bloody nose.

As 777 says isn't it about time you books who keep turning up at Chester grow a pair.Instead of moaning do as I do,just don't go to the place. There's usually other meetings on the Saturdays which are as good if not better than Chester.
