Carvoeiro - Memories!!! - I think I saw The Rip win at Plumpton.  I walked to the course as I usually did in those days.  Five miles ish.  Mind you I did the same to see Pink Floyd, King Crimson etc 3/4 years later at the same venue!!

There was also a horse that always used to win at Stratford called Gambling Prince who was a particular favourite from a punting point of view.

Salmon Spray... My first visit t Cheltenham with my dad was the Mackeson Gold Cup meeting (now the Paddy power cup, won that day by Richard of Bordeaux, a magnificent huge (almost white)grey horse.
I backed the winner of the next race, the Mackeson Hurdle, horse named Cash, at 50/1... on the tote, 4/- win and place, pure guess of course.

Coombs Ditch trained by David Elsworth and ridden by Colin Brown was the best horse I ever visually saw.

His loss to Wayward Lad in the KG in a 3 horse race cost me a house and the time he was fav in the GC cost me a row of houses, but nevertheless this horse was a machine on his day.

Just a view ?

Not many of you will remember The Dickler;a horse with a great heart who came up the Cheltenham hill like an express train

I don't!   I remember the Dikler thoughWink.  Big white face and named after a stream in the Cotswolds I think.

Tingle Creek.

I am shocked that noone has ever heard of this horse.

The best jumper of a fence, ever.

the dikler was one of the fab four,in his hurdling days, the other 3 were ,night nurse, sea pigeon, and beacon light, betting=
sea pigeon 3/1
night nurse 100/30
beacon light 7/2
the dikler 4/1
100/1 bar

Only going by memory Brassneck but that quartet would look a two horse race on the hurdling front for me , Beacon Light would be best part of a stone behind the big two and The Dikler a couple of stone behind as a hurdler , only remember The Dikler for his chasing prowess myself and outstaying Pendil to win a Gold Cup would be the highlight.

Mind plays tricks and such a long time ago to trust memory 100% so sure i'll be corrected if mistaken.

I'd like some 100/30 Night Nurse, please Brassneck. Also, some 100/1 Bula, Birds Nest, Comedy of Errors, Lanzerote and Monksfield.

The Dikler never ran over hurdles, he was a point to pointer who went straight over fences when he joined Fulke Walwyn to run under rules.

Some fantastic names put forward and when thinking about their greatest moments it reminds you of why racing can be so good - my personal favourites memories are

Crisp failing so gallantly in 1973

Night Nurse (Its second Champion Hurdle - so I'll not count - but also coming a so close second in the Gold Cup)

Desert Orchid when running around Sandown

each unforgettable - where has the time gone!!
