The Stewards held an enquiry into the fall of Grant Cockburn, the rider of FLOGAROSE (FR), on the bend exiting the back straight. They interviewed the rider. Having heard his evidence and viewed recordings of the incident the Stewards noted his explanation that the mare had taken a step left towards the rails causing him to become unbalanced and unseated.

Surely if he was looking to jump ship he would have kicked his other leg out of the stirrups and fell towards the inside of the track therefore avoiding being trampled on by the horses behind.

Stick up for jockeys by all means but do not try to defend that! He jumped off, 100%! ( not meant for you Uptheboro). You don't have to have ridden a horse to understand what was going on there. The horse was tanking along and he did a " Barry Brogan".

He was a seriously good jockey (NH) that by his own admission went bent. He wrote a book charting not only the great moments, but the crooked ones also. One particular time when ordered NOT to win by any means. Horse he was on bolted and was about to sluice in. He admitted to deliberately putting it wrong at second last (or thereabouts)and leaping off.

for those with good memories have a look back at Graham Bradley at Southwell many years ago in a 3 runner affair and if you can read his autobiograhy before you say anymore kavie/racingstar.
