I hope Betfair does something about its increasingly pathetic forum, where one by one the shrewd, witty, insightful contributors have drifted away to be replaced by people who are not safe to be let loose with a crayon let alone a keyboard. How a respectable company like Betfair, which prides itself on the transparency of its product, allows itself to play host to such feeble, nasty, predictable, pocket-talking, barely regulated, anonymous viewpoints is utterly beyond me.

Anybody reading this thread will find it very difficult to agree with that flippant statement.

Get ready for the   RP Pre Cheltenham price increase, happens every year. Getting to the tipping point now, dare it increase again or will this one be the straw that breaks the camels back?

Annual online subscription increased by 11%; is there a fine on the way from the Information Commissioner for losing customers' personal data?

I like how he says he "refutes" claims that they're in the bookmakers pockets.

It seems Bruce's idea of "refuting" that is by continuing to ignore the disreputable behaviour that these companies get up to, filling the pages with advertising, and having a "Betting Shop Manager of the Year" award - the winners of which just happen to think FOBTs are wonderful.

It's difficult to believe that the main newspaper in the sport behaves in such an odious manner to their very supposed customers as it does now. Sir Clement Freud will be spinning in his grave at to what has become of racing journalism and the infestation of the gravy train slurpers now in office. All too afraid of their own shadows to actually say it how it is.

Oh, and for the sake of balance, lest Bruce think we're picking on him, Racing Plus isn't much better - I believe they've given Rory Jiwani a column in it.

It is a pity,I remember switching from the sporting life to racing post about 1989 I think, and was always impressed with it,but have also stopped buying it for the last six years or so.

A couple of weeks ago, he was moaning about sports commentators, football in particular.

He griped about how many players are wearing gloves.  Saying Smith is in for Jones, without naming the full teams.

The next week he moaned about people who 'moaned about commentators'.

People who complained about the antics of commentators @ the Winter Olympics, should get a life.

It's amazing someone who has managed to lose nearly 50% of the newspaper's circulation during his tenure can take such a cavalier attitude towards their supposed customers...

I have bought the Racing Post everyday since it started, before that the Sporting Life and will continue to do so.

Millington is obsessed with this place and as others have said can give it but can't take it.

He carried out a one man campaign against Peter Alliss some years back that was vicious and sustained as well as being wrong, his complaints were he was too old made too many references to old golf clubs.
He also hadn't done his homework whilst he was carrying on his weekly attacks it emerged he had no idea how good a golfer Alliss was.

In the early sixties Peter Alliss played in Woodbrook in Ireland,he shattered the course record with a 62 leading to this sports headline.

wildmanfromborneo---i knew Peter Allis was a good golfer and extremely well respected --i never knew BM had slated PA till mentioned on here -Unbelievable  for what reason ?

Probably because - Peter Alliss actually sounds HUMAN, SINCERE and FRIENDLY

Attributes that, apparently, cannot be attributed to the complainant.

I think Millington looked at him as a stuffy old schooler, in fairness Peter Allis was stuck in a timewarp, use to have palpitations when Ian Poulter walked on course with his latest golfing garb.

Million1 he didn't just slate him he pursued him relentlessly for weeks,it was every column.

Which is why when he talks about trolls he should be listened to,he was a journalistic one.

I know Allis is set in his ways --but he is the voice of golf imo---like others have said he was a soft target---i hate bullies cant think of an easier target ---pity he didnt get stuck into a few racing pundits instead

The link below is to a Q&A session that he did for The Racing Forum in 2009.

Worth a read if you've not already seen it:

There you go homefortea

No I meant a thread on here that was removed (like many have) where his cohorts tried to take the rise out of me by drawing a big crayon about six inches tall and vertical.

How they could do that on here baffles me but hey ...

They are all journos on the Racing Post and all are winners..

They can rule the World (or at least the 30 000 who still buy the paper at full cover price......)

Salmon you will find most of that 30,000 are made up of the high street bookies copy and most of the rest end up on some trainer or stud farmers breakfast table.

The little scrot was on Talksport this morn, always mentioning renowned tipster Tom Segal Laugh ,and Millie expects loads of goals in the Soton vs Liverpool game so there's a valuable nugget of info for the listeners.

Looking at his ugly mug in the paper is bad enough, but hearing him talk really grates.

Oh and one other he fancies Godsmejudge ahead of Monbeg Dude cos the price is better Laugh very good Millie very good.

Irishone knows the score imo.  Does anyone seriously believe that any newspaper owner in their right mind would give Millybags any editorial authority?  I'd bet Millybags can't even authorise the purchase of some paper clips without it being signed off, let alone decide upon editorial content.  Just look at what happened at the lowest point in RP history when they suffered a security breach, Millbags sent out an e-mail to customers and couldn't even spell his own name...

Good point Aviboyd..

How come this thread is still open though as similar ones have been removed quicker than an online tip from Pullein...

Perhaps Bruce has been transferred from the Thursday Column to the Dole Queue to be amongst the recent arrivals that he told us would not be here...

In 1986 The Sporting Life cost 25 pence. The Racing Post costs £2.30 on Sat/Sun 2014. In 2005 sales of The Racing Post were circa 93,500 dropping year on year to 72,000 in 2007, 55,000 in 2009 and 47,000 by 2013. My graph tells me that if the average reader aint prepared to pay a fiver a copy come 2020 then the paper will fold. Bye bye Brucie, never read your drivel anyway. It was tosh.
