Thought she was unlucky in running at Newmarket (and not for the first time) and although these things have a way of going astray next time out, I feel with luck she will go close today and can see her making the frame and have done her for the win too.

It wouldn't have been a surprise on her run at Newmarket where she got no kind of run at all and yet again the same happened in this.
It's always a gamble when a horse is surrounded by so many other runners and she got knocked from pillar to post but I wouldn't write her off just yet, but she certainly gets no luck in running as this is the third time now but a race like the Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot might suit her if not too many runners and going around a turn might filter out some of the traffic problems.

That's a bit or a cliché at the best of times but I don't think that line applies to her here and from her 3 wins from 6 runs before today, they came in fields with 6, 7 and 10 runners. At Newmarket there were 15 and today there were 16 and on a straight course over a shortish distance like a mile, then fewer runners will drop away early and the field won't get strung out early-ish so there's always the potential for hard luck stories.

Of course she was unlucky at Newmarket easygold and not trying to rude here but suggest if you think she wasn't then maybe it's you who needs to stop gambling now and not others.
The Racing Post after race comments were:
Steadied after start, held up in last quartet, not clear run over 2f out, still only 11th when ridden well over 1f out, headway and edging right over 1f out, ran on strongly inside final furlong, not reach leaders.
And despite all of that finished 6th, so made 5 places in the final 2f to only to be beaten 2½L after being switched back and forth to try to get a run, where once the jockey switched to the near side, had he continued to do that she would have got a clear run.

Watch the video from around 1 minute in and ignore the race and just watch her run.

So a filly that has won at 7f easygold and in two mile classics was doing her best work at the finish despite traffic problems and was closing all the way to the line, compared to say how far she was behind at the 6f pole in both races doesn't stay?
I think maybe you need to go and watch the videos again.

I'd say she's obv a doubtful stayer but as Rease said, none of us know. Hannon and Hughes don't, tactics and interviews seem to point towards if she does she willlll.....just.

If she was a doubtful stayer she would be dropping away at the end of her races rather then finishing and closing down/narrowing the gap between herself and the leaders and those ones weren't stopping either.
I hope they don't drop her back in trip though.

I think you could well be right cardiffc as bar a few odd ones, most of our sprinters are either failed milers or promoted handicappers and she wouldn't have to be great to win a decent 6f race but I think it's too early to consider her a failed miler yet but would understand them dropping her back in trip as her class would still make her competitive at 6f.
I suppose it's all about opinions but it's the connections who get to make the call.

If you mean me easygold then no I'm not changing my mind about her staying a mile because to me I think she does but I've always held the view that classier horses running at a trip that is not their own one will still beat less classy horses at their preferred trip.
Saying she is good enough to win at 6f doesn't mean she doesn't stay a mile or that she isn't good enough to win a decent mile race.

Hughes once again rode a poor race.Gets found out time and time again.Gets more beat than to win through his poor judgement.just not a big race jockey one to avoid.

No mate, It's the Fallon thing I have problems with at times. He has ridden for me in the past and in my opinion he's a wrong un who considers himself untouchable.
He has upset a lot of people and if, as I suspect, you are quite close to him then I am sure you will know this. You appear to defend him on every thread when at times he is truly indefensible.

Only just seen this once the thread was brought up again so just to say I'm not actually close to Fallon tip1uk if you get to see this and have never even met him and know full well as a human being he has his flaws but all I've ever done initially is state that the Baliinger Ridge ride was a human error c0ck up and not dodgy. It then seems most of the vitriol towards him stems from that, so if he gets beaten on anything else or misses the break as all jockeys do, that's when the dodgy claims get wheeled out again.
As for Maureen today, again I felt she was a little unlucky in running although nothing like as before and eventually got the gap she needed if good enough but just wasn't, although I still wouldn't say she definitely doesn't get the mile because she was ridden a lot more handily today probably to trying to ensure she doesn't have traffic problems again, yet take the winner out which put distance between the rest and Maureen has finished a reasonably close up 3rd behind what would have been a dual 1000gns winner but for today's winner again.

thought she was going to win approaching the final furlong but she did not pick up today as she usually does maybe the short right hand finish did not suit dont give up on her yet

She does not get a proper mile, how many more races do you need Ima-, race reading no problem for me, as I said before you need to re-watch the races at least 10 times more than you are because the comments u are putting up are way off here.
She may win a soft race over a mile, but not a strong one.

So apparently easygold Just The Judge must also not get a middle either despite a narrow defeat and a win in a couple of mile classics seeing as there was little in it between the two of them today.
I've already mentioned how and why Maureen was ridden much closer to the pace today so maybe that was a factor considering she's been held up in all of her previous races but that's when she was meeting trouble in running and with today's field being the largest she's competed in with 17 runners in it then would being held up once more make that more or less likely to happen again? She gets the mile fine but was just beaten by better fillies on the day considering she has only ever tried it at the very highest level with 4 Gr1 runs at her only tries at the trip.
She may well win a soft one over a mile, be it a Gr1 with lesser rivals than those she has met so far or dropping to Gr2/3 and that would confirm to me she gets the mile fine considering she beat more home than were in front of her today but maybe isn't quite up to winning a Gr1 agaisnt the very best at that trip.
My previous comments regarding both the English and Irish 1000gens were that she was unlucky in her runs to meet traffic problems, so are you telling that wasn't the case and she got a dream run in both but just didn't get home because if so then I'd politely suggest it's not me with the race reading problems here?

No need to mention other horses, we are having a discussion about Maureen ONLY, now you are saying G2-G3 races I wonder why??? I`m not going to explain to you where your racing reading is failing, we all know a soft race over a one mile is capable from her, but not against the best and that`s all that`s counts in this discussion. I will Lay her again and again against G1 company like she has raced against in her last three races.

Oops, that should have read Just The Judge didn't get a mile either.
Interesting to that the Racing Post comments on Maureen's previous two races being the English and Irish 1000gns states:
English 1000gns - Steadied after start, held up in last quartet, not clear run over 2f out, still only 11th when ridden well over 1f out
Where in that race she was around 4½L behind Just The Judge.
Irish 1000gns - Held up in rear of mid-division, not much room under 2f out and soon switched left, kept on into never nearer 6th near finish
Where she was 5L behind Just The Judge, whereas today she raced up with the pace and despite again briefly looking like she might not get a run she was only 1½L behind Just The Judge. All which tells me that JTJ is a better filly than Maureen, just as Sky Lantern is a better filly than JTJ but you don't hear any claims saying JTJ doesn't get a mile and add to that there were also 5 fillies behind Maureen in today's race that were previous mile winners so do they all not get the trip either?

backed maureen for the 3rd time today.......think she proved today that a drop back in trip to even 6f might see her winning top races........mile is probably a shade too far in group 1 company

Yes but getting beaten in a Gr1 miles by better filles doesn't mean you don't get a mile easygold, which was my point about Just The Judge and the main reason people such as yourself are saying Maureen doesn't get a mile and JTJ does is that Maureen hasn't won at the trip and JTJ has, although JTJ has only done so when a better filly than her in Sky Lantern has not been a rival.
Likewise Maureen hasn't won at a mile when those same better fillies have been in opposition but that's not the same as saying she doesn't get a mile and that's not the reason Sky Lantern and JTS finish in front of her, they do so because they are better fillies than here, which probably goes some way to explain why Hughes chose the one that he did today.
I'm saying Gr2 or Gr3 in much the same way as you are saying "She may win a soft race over a mile, but not a strong one" so what's the difference there other than you saying she doesn't get a mile and me saying she does? Was that you covering all bases by any chance just in case? I think we are both in agreement that Maureen won't win a strong Gr1 it's just that we have different reasons for holding those views.

You keep mentioning other horses Why? I haven`t. The reason I wrote a soft mile is because that`s all she is over that distance. Now I stated in my first write-up that she is not up to it in G1 level over a mile even with the two horses you keep writing about in the field. I can name three or four horses that will beat her over a mile. It`s seems to me that you think she could win a G1 without those two horses in the field. You are so wrong

Sorry I'm not trying to be rude here but is it really that difficult to understand that the very reason I'm mention other horses such as Just The Judge is because nobody is saying she doesn't get a mile but are doing so regarding Maureen when there was so little difference between them today once Maureen got a reasonable run and didn't meet problems and I'd even offer the opinion that in a smaller filed of lets say single figures that even with the better fillies still in the race, she probably wouldn't have been ridden as handily as she was today due to fear of also not getting a run, which would probably have ended up with her timing her delaying her finish and getting closer to the principles.
I haven't ever disagreed that she isn't up to winning a Gr1 level at a mile with certain other opponents in the race, I've just pointed out you think the reason she gets beaten at that level is because she doesn't get the mile whereas I think she does but has just been beaten by better fillies than her. I too can think of 2-3 fillies that will bet her over a mile and today's 3 would be the ones and I'm afraid you can't yet tell me I'm wrong for thinking she could win a Gr1 mile race without those 2 horses in the race because she never run in one without them. Plus I don't think I've ever said she would, just that she maybe could but my main argument all along is that I didn't think it was conclusive that she didn't stay a mile based on the circumstances of previous runs.
