as a non expert on these drugs ,,, i assume they build allow more repeated exersice and that buids endurance and more speed ... so a one off application wont actually help in anyway .The idea that the vets team in and around this huge organisation werent involved or complicit is implausable .Almost as implausable as the trainers defence ,,, .im pretty certain that the same medical staff would have moved in and around the whole organisation in its many places world wide .this multinational organisation prides itself for its hands on approach at all levels ,,, it must cast doubt on the whole organisation and its public face of respectability ...I await the pr gurus bland excuses and the kicking of the ball into the long grass while business will go on ... its a pity really at the beginning i was pleased to see their initial successes i think it got too big and became too greedy ,

silvergreaser im always reluctant to taint others by association ,,, do you know if the yard y mentioned have had any thing like this happen to them ...im sure someone will tell me if its so .The stable y mentioned has lots of runners and lots of winners as well as losers ,,,some run above expectations some below with little rhyme or reason but to connect that to this shooting gallery is a huge leap /

Just a general observation kemo, horses of his getting beat in mickey mouse races before making stratospheric improvement in form usually in much better class of race, I suppose been a qualified vet you can give them the proper feed?.

look i can understand where your comeing from but ive had horses and see them being trained its far from a straight forward thing ,,, you are entiled to draw your own conclusions but i would prefer to see the smoking gun ,,,, or is it the dripping needle ,,,have they been done for this ... my knowledge is limited but i tend to try to keep up with events and i cant actually remember anything .i like the couple who run the outfit have watched them work hard from very small beginning to where they are now .if they were doing similar things i would be rather more dissapointed than the godolphin thing ... though im not sure why thats the case ... incidently its a stable i hardly ever back because of your remarks about in and out runners ... i posted on here the other evening i was backing one of theirs called LIKE MARMALADE .... cos i had seen marmalade cat earlier that morning in tobermory ,,,it won ,

Wouldn't like to be in Zarooni's shoes having to appear before BHA...he's going to require comprehensive training and coaching and it'll be a feat of memory for him to remember what he has to say.God or Allah help him if under interrogation he says the wrong thing. Anyone know if he'll have legal representatives with him at the hearing.

Yes, Sankara, I vividly remember Moon Ballad that night. The phrase 'eyeballs out' has never been more appropriate. Plenty of commentators have queried why Carnival form frequently fails to translate to Europe.......does make you wonder......and I hope Al Zarooni is looked after 'cos it's hard to believe he was a loose cannon.

If Sheikhy pulls the plug like the Aga Khan did after his disq Oaks winner, there is a massive gap in the money in British racing right from buying overpriced Kheleyfs at Tatts through to entries and jobs associated with 200 horses in training

i think i would rather less runners less jobs than bent races ... price worth paying .i know its only one of many things wrong but its still wrong .

It has been noticeable that Godolphin farm races in Dubai be it Zarooni or Suroor and yet they very seldom re-produce anything like that form in Britain?, who would dare test the ruling family of Dubai horses in their very own backyard?.

Been thinking about this if a human is juicing once you stop, your hormone levels crash and you have to go into PCT to go back to normal hormone production. In this cycle you lose most of your gains hence people who are caught in sprinting etc havnt entered PCT and still on their cycles. Looking at Big Browns run in the Belmont you could say the exact same thing happens to horse.
So basically Al Zarooni probably took a huge risk for not much gains. |

Sheikh Mohammed wont be happy says James Crispe?, as if the sheikh is entirely innocent and childlike and hadn't a clue his horses were running on dope hence why they farmed races in his homeland?.

Great to see the ferocious British Racing Media getting well stuck into this huge story, knocking down doors and doorstepping everyone in sight to get a reaction to this scandal.
Right? I can hardly wait for 'Get In' to start back up. Harvey and Weaver will surely be urging the stiffest possible sanctions on the miscreants. |

shame he didnt learn from the 2 positive tests last year - how many chances do you want to give him - only Henderson gets away with things like this! |

Interesting point about Camelot. That's the trouble with illegal drug use -once they enter the equation everything is open to suspicion and even genuine achievement is tainted.

maxheadroom Joined: 11 Aug 10 Replies: 2268 22 Apr 13 19:22 from 2009 Sheikh Mohammed, one of the biggest names in horse racing globally, has been embarrassed by a doping scandal involving a horse he has ridden in endurance races in Bahrain and Dubai. The horse, Tahhan, which the Sheikh owns, was found to have two banned substances in its system after testing by the Sheikh's own staff The Disciplinary Panel of the British Horseracing Authority held an enquiry on 16 August 2012 into the analysis of the urine ordered to be taken from two horses trained by Mahmood Al Zarooni: 1. MARINER’S CROSS (IRE), at Newmarket after the colt finished first in the Swan At Lavenham Wood Ditton Stakes on 19 April 2012, and 2. LYRIC OF LIGHT, at Newmarket after the filly was unplaced in the QIPCO 1000 Guineas Stakes (British Champion Series) on 6 May 2012. The Panel also considered whether or not to take action under Rule (A)74.2 of the Rules of Racing in respect of the possible disqualification of the two horses. The samples taken from MARINER’S CROSS (IRE) and LYRIC OF LIGHT were found to contain propoxyphene, which is a prohibited substance. The analysis of the ‘B’ samples confirmed the original findings. After considering the evidence, including written statements from Mahmood Al Zarooni, the Panel was unable to establish the source of the substance, and could not therefore be satisfied that the administration of the substance was accidental. The Panel accepted an admission from Mahmood Al Zarooni that he was in breach of Rule (C)53 on both occasions and imposed a fine of £1,000 for each breach. Under Rule (A)74.2 the Panel disqualified MARINER’S CROSS (IRE), placing MUKHADRAM first, FLUCTUATE (USA) second, HILL STREET (IRE) third and BUNRAKU fourth in the Swan at Lavenham Wood Ditton Stakes. The Panel also disqualified LYRIC OF LIGHT from the QIPCO 1000 Guineas Stakes (British Champions Series). |
