Was Cunningham trying to grovel to Nicholls, it looked to me that Nicholls also thought he was off his head.

when gc was asked this morning about the latest race fixing or what ever you want to call it i thought his answer

is it really worth having the aw was a very interesting thought ,

something perhaps the bha need to sit down and discuss because in the end the whole game by outsiders will appear like this stuff.

GC has some interesting views Jimnast on the long term future funding of the sport, how it is run & policed, of course, he may never be given his head & allowed to freely discuss his views properly on RUK & CH4 but I would like to see it happen, I couldnt give a sh!t what he tips, I form my own opinion, but I do think pundits/presenters have a role to play in how racing & stories from within the sport are reported & looked at. I find GC to be one of the better ones in those instances.

Good point,Jimnast.

Most of these corruption charges seem to revolve around AW racing.
Most of the vehement posts on here revolve around AW racing.

Do we need it ?

even from the racecourse bookmakers point of view its the aw where they get the most stick with some of these over rounds,in fact theres ill feeling been created by the fact lingfield are now paying bookmakers to turn up,until gc suggested it this morning i hadnt thought about it but i must admit i think its time we called it a day.

i think the last real talking point in nh was sean fox falling of one at fontwell,i think since then theres been over 20 banned for non ziggers on the aw.

Did anyone see the recording of that fiasco from Belgium on ATR last night?

Probably the worst example of 'horseplay' you're EVER likely to see...by far the most rancid I've witnessed.

For once I'll defend Luke Harvey as he couldn't say what he really wanted to, and effectively gagged himself - his silence spoke volumes.
He summed it up well in saying he has a mortgage to pay...even the professional fence-sitters have an excuse sometimes.

More dog racing would be preferable to the AW racing.

Says it all, jimnast.

Personally I have no interest in AW.I find it boring. I don't think it's an entirely AW problem though. It's a low class racing problem. We don't need rubbish racing.A cull in fixtures of around 20% would benefit racing in the long term. Pandering to mediocrity doesn't work in any field.

i gave it a go in 2001 and 2002,just wolly and southwell, and found it ok,but i missed the jumpers to much so went back to them,to an extent i trusted it back then, but from what i see and hear now anybody doing the form needs to have a word with themselfs.

I think GC has compromised his views to get the gig on TV. Thats not to say he wont revert to being a good guy if he gets the opportunity. Hes done well to get a platform where he can do some good. He stands out on C4 as the one bloke who aint really a gravytrainer. Cut him some slack and who gives a tozz what his selections are anyway.

The All Weather racing is just to keep betting turnover going for those who have no interest in gambling on other sports. By virtue of its nature and the low quuaility of horses involved its bound to have an element of some people trying to make a fast buck. Its not unsimilar to dog racing, everyone gets their turn at some point.

As for pundits commenting adversely on bad rides its fraught with the danger of law suits.

If you cannot say 'i cannot see past Sprinter Sacre' then you really need to be doing something else.

You are just putting punters away otherwise.

I was googling ownership finances when i was sposed to be working in the week and the yanks say get a decent winner of a claimer and you can cover a years fees. In this country it may well not cover a fortnight. The banded racing was a tester to see how cheap the courses could fill the cards for and surprise surprise they are paying peanuts and filling the cards.

Professional Punters do not appear on Racing Channels for a very good reason.
They do not need £300 per day extra.
Wannanbee morons like TSD crave attention and will send you in the same "Poorhouse" they inhabit.

SF you are right it is Licensed Flapping though. Also with prize money so low people have to gamble to make it pay which is wrong.

Cost to train a horse = £1200/1500 per month. A set of shoes £ 70 per month, Travelling to the races £2.50 a mile. Jockey £180 a ride Entry fees £60 per month. Then you are running for £1700 to the winner of an AW race. You may have a winner every 8 races if you are lucky.

GC dont claim to be a pro punter hes always been a journalist analyst. I think pro punters dont spend their time slating an honest fellow doing his job. I think GC knows exactly what happened to Lydia Hislop when she spoke her mind a little too frankly.

What a ridiculous selection

Particularly as Nicholls himself was sat a few feet away telling everyone it had virtually no chance

He should come on and apologise to viewers

Talks as if he knows what he is on about but his conclusions prove that he knows fek all about the game
