Surely, the trainer deserves the ban. The kid was only doing what he was told. Unfortunately, he did it badly. Bad day at the office for Mr Carter. I'm sure the trainer will more than compensate him for whatever rides he misses.

That ban will have cemented his career.

10 days to guarantee he can be trusted to keep stum and ride to orders.

A very small price to pay for a leap up the racing ladder.

would love to hear the C4 view of this during their round up of the week - if they are going to have any credibility in respect of punting aspect of racing then they have to state at very best that was a misjudged ride! francome many many times went on about rhythm and carter got that one into more quick-quick-slows than your average austrian waltz composer!  they must know they're going to get away with it (and it must be worth their while - Betfair please produce the figures?) but we're all wise to the tricks now, only it's too late for the poor mugs who've broken away from their 72nd roulette spin of the day to have a fiver on the bleeding AW!!

Having watched this race in the betting shop, I was amazed at the price of the horse in the first place because it certainly should have been pushing Sewn Up for favourite. When i saw it was third favourite and drifting on Betfair I just thought that it was too good a price to let go. What I should have engaged was my brain because the price told you what was going to happen during the race. Yes we all know now that he got left behind in the first furlong (well done Easterby will be telling the lad) and made absolutely no effort to win finishing with alot of horse underneath him. Either this was down to a clown of a ride or a well mastered pre race plan coming to fruition.I think the majority of punters know the answer to that! What really annoys us punters is that nothing ever gets done and yet again the wonderful AW Racing is losing its credibility totally now (if it ever had any). In my opinion the horse should be banned from racing for 6 months along with all connections.

The Stewards held an enquiry into the running and riding of FAFFA, ridden by Adam Carter and trained by Tim Easterby, which was tenderly handled over the final two furlongs before running on to finish third beaten 2¼ lengths.

They interviewed the rider and the trainer’s representative. They also received a report from the Veterinary Officer. The rider stated his instructions were to drop in, to get the gelding to settle as he had run keenly over five furlongs in his previous race. He added that having taken a pull on leaving the stalls FAFFA was initially outpaced and then tended to run in snatches.

He went on to say that whilst he was happy with his position round the final bend, he had been wasting heavily at short notice and after feeling weak in the straight was consequently unable to ride more vigorously and go for his whip. The trainer’s representative confirmed the instructions and conceded that he could have ridden a stronger finish. Having heard their evidence and viewed recordings of the race the Stewards found the rider in breach of Rule (B)59.4 and guilty of failing to take all reasonable and permissible measures to obtain the best possible placing.

They suspended him for 10 days as follows: Tuesday 5, Wednesday 6, Thursday 7, Friday 8, Saturday 9, Sunday 10, Monday 11, Tuesday 12, Wednesday 13, Thursday 14 February 2013.

people are betting in good faith on these races,by giving him a 10 day ban the stewards are finding him guilty of fixing the outcome of a sporting event.(Match fixing)so surely this has to be taken further or racing loses all credibility.this and its likes should go before some sort of disciplinary board with hefty bans and fines imposed. this was blatant and needs eradicating.he should be sharing a cell with salman butt!

surely the stewards are not buying the wasting to do the weight excuse because it was clear the whip was waved but not used baffling

how that horse performed is entirely his responsibility and a 10 day ban is f@ck all as for the connections this is why the stewards should hand it over to be investigated. throw em all in jail if guilty

If the stewards are willing to accept that explanation then it really makes you wonder what it takes for them to say

10% winners carter yet if you look at his rides even when winning he does actually look very very average even if run again i wouldn't have relyed on him winning the race!

Thats what i'm saying he isn't any better flat out,he may have rode 10% winners but still looks poor to me compared to thomas brown there's no comparison i wouldn't see it a great advantage him claiming 7 pound.

I agree gigglo.

A poor choice by the stable (When you look at the stopping jockeys available on the AW).

Over complicating the tactics.

They could have told him to set it alight from the stalls and go 4 furlong pace. Beaten before the turn and as a %lb claimer the stewards could have done nothing about a kid getting teh fractions wrong.

I suspect the days of missing the break may be over and days of losing from the front coming.

I can't remember ever being so annoyed for so long about a race where I didn't even have a bet! 10 day ban for the jock? How about 10 months, big fine for the trainer and the exchanges look into who was laying the animal so heavily!!! I wonder if the RP will mention this?

Well no I tell a lie there have been a of couple 33/1 shots in my time that were system bets but for one reason or another I didn't back (one had a bsp of 105 last day of Galway last year) but you get my point. That was sickening stuff.
