I am afraid he has learnt a lesson today. Don't do favours for Koral. Should have called in sick this morning when he saw how bad the weather was.

unreal poor lad, what a company.

I am afrraid it's like a game of chess, the Kings and Queens sacrifice the porns for their own personel gain.
Same in most large firms these days, i am a Manager in a similar enviroment yet have a stronger "Team Ethic" imo. |

£30 a shift.?
By:
Ronnie, have all staff signed the new contract? If not, have they been put under pressure to do so?
By:
Id tell him to have a £30 variance then, thought that there would be a company policy in place if no public transport was available.
He's done them a favour by manning a shop that far away in this weather |
By:
ronnie, you're better than this mate....... pull all the stops out & get away !
By:
The actions of a truly rancid company
By:
He'll be an expert on the FOBT by now, make the taxi fair back with a couple of spins on roulette, problem solved.
By:
Sowerby
If he’d know what was going to happen I’m sure he would have, the staff who didn’t sign the new contracts were brought in by the management and given the contract to sign, god knows what would have happened if they hadn’t, but even though we have all now signed the contracts the goals posts are starting to move again, surprise surprise! Penzance The poor lad only started at 5.30 and it wasn’t till after this he found the buses stopped, that’s why the shifts less than £30 Halcyon I’ve always been a trier and I’m trying mate but age goes against me. |

Korals are vile, end of thread.
By:
I would steal it out of the float and leave a note saying fuuuk you ya scumbags
By:
big company like them.could make sure all
staff got home ok,in these conditions. Drop in the ocean. |
By:
people do take the p!ss but this seems a genuine case, the lad has done them the favour
By:
the Big Boss has spoken, end of thread
By:
He could always move the dead body out of the toilets and bed down there for the night !
By:
years ago the boss would have said take it out of the sleepers and take a handful e.g. a fiver for yourself for helping us out.
By:
This is why people join trade union's.
By:
Indeed , Sparrow.
Companies like Korals seem to be cowboy capitalists of a bygone age paying staff 6 quid an hour and treating them like dirt. |
By:
Any area manager refusing to pay this should'nt be in a job ffs, he's asked for a favor, theres no public transport and snow on the ground, its akin to ask someone to work for nothing.
By:
No company with a unionised work force would even think of not compensating the man.
By:
Variance is the way to go, must have enough of them with some of the quality staff they employ
![]() |
By:
What a horrible company
By:
Yes make the till £40 short and have a couple of pints whilst you wait for the taxi....
Some of the Corals staff that I have seen cannot even count to forty let alone pronounce it ... |
By:
Stealing the money is not the answer. He has made a mistake accepting the shift.
By:
He won't do it again and where would that leave Korals -
Yes with four FOBTS switched off.... |
By:
Phone the area manager (C8nt) and say I've had a violent occurrence and been threatened by FOBT players. Just calling Old Bill
He may get a reaction. I;d suggest all koral staff who support the lad do the same. |
By:
A truly vile company.
All the staff need to do is unite, I would love to see a strike that would make me and ![]() |

The lad needs telling that he is fortunate to have a job on the high street, particular after this week. Several thousnad people have an uncertain financial future due to the collapse of several big high street names, many of whom will have others who are dependant on their income and far more rsponsibilities than this lad probably has. I'm sure he knows someone who'll do him a favour and pick him up or lend him. I'm all for having a dig at the bookies but this lad needs to put up or shut up.

When old joe was the boss the company was one big happy family, times change.
By:
How much did he earn on the shift?
How much is the Taxi? |
By:
surely there is a duty of care required by the company ?
By:
wee eck
I know Nicholas Joes son is still about but what happened to your old pal Bernie his other son is he still around. Diamond The lad was doing a 4 hour shift at about £7.50 an hour so £30 before tax and the taxi was £30 so he’s paying for the privilege of doing korals a favour! |
By:
Powers opened a new shop in my town. Guess where ALL of the coral's staff moved overnight. Manager, deputy & 2 normal staff.
Desperate story Ronnie. |
By:
I used to be financial director of a well known retail company with several hundred outlets.I cannot believe that in the circumstances outlined the area manager doesn't authorise the travel cost to be taken from the till.If he's afraid to authorise this the shop manager should give the lad the £30 out of his own pocket and let the operations director know what has happened.A disgraceful episode.

Same in cheltenham (if thats not your area) paddys head hunted the manager from korals and she took all the staff with her, what a great lass and staff the same, down there for very meeting and always pop in for a chat with her and her staff. Just wish Paddys would head hunt in my area. |
