Not easy being a bookie you know. I used to make books and take bets in the 80`s from a large workforce. I took advantage where possible. One mans 8/1 is anothers 6/1

Answering your question, unless the law has been changed(may well have been with the gambling act)if Barry owned Folkestone he wouldn't be allowed by law to bet there.
An owner of a track can not operate at that track as a Bookmaker. As i say that was the law but it may have changed with the latest gambling act. |

Barry is right,
Rather than hiding behind a user name on here, and having the opportunity to approach Barry to mention the point of view, bringing it up on here is the `ball - less` approach. |

Someone on here, I forget who it was asked for 1800/300 with Dennis. He got cut in half because he couldn't get rid of it on here.
I saw Tom Jenkins, The Viking, he of The John Power Organisation lay a dog to lose 50 grand at Wembley one night and he kept the price up. Only the oldtimers will remember John Power. |

What are the Jenkins brothers doing now Slippy?
Gone are the days of the fearless books. |

Tom went to Italy I think A.G. to pen shops but stand tobe corrected. I don't know what happened to John to be honest with you.
Hackney races on a Saturday morning with The Viking in full flow was a sight to behold. Imagine that influence now though thinking about it, Hackney on a Saturday morning was such an institution in the shops. 8 races and Greyform. The car park used to be full of London taxis, Pearl served the breakfasts and if a bit of her **** ash landed on the beans you didn't complain, that was just the way it was. A dog called Tea Ration at 7/1 hit the lids, The Viking boomed "turn left" It held on. |

One thing these bookies threads teach us how small time the bookies have got,Adge on a different thread stated he stood a favourite for more than usual 1140 that seemed to me a tiny amount, another bookmaker Regit came on saying he laid a bet of 1100 to 400 and tried to have 300 back on here, the old Irish saying that the lady in the cloakroom at the Curragh would lay a bigger bet than them English lads.

By:
you dont want to go to a dog track in ireland they bet 180per cent most times 200percent
