How would you like it if I changed my username to yours and pretended to be a hetrosexual ?
Oh dear. You have really let yourself down with this one. I'm almost feeling sorry for you now. |

No problem Bon Viveur..
Keep up the good work.I shall retire now at the end of day 10 (of 84) on the wagon.. |

its a shame nobody reading this thread tried to have a bet on this race online with laddies, they could tell us if they were told that it was a no bet race.
|
|
By:
My understanding is that the race was not available on their website, and therefore not available to shop customers either.
Assuming that's the case, IBAS will rule in favour of the bookmaker. If the customer stated that he was referring it to the Small Claims Court instead, he would be long odds on to be paid out before it reached court. |

Just wanted to post this snippet. It was when prince william married and Billie's were offering a free £2 bet on the time that Kate would arrive at the church. They had around 5 options, with prices on each. As a regular customer I had been in at around 9am and picked the fav time to win. I backed a couple of virtual races and they came in so I thought for an interest why not have a big single bet on the same time. I staked £150 on the Fav time advertised and went home. Kate duly arrived at that time. WIN
When I went to collect my winnings the manager told me they did not accept singles on the time, and were only offering free £2 bets as a gesture, but would contact head office to see what could be done. Result? Paid in full, right there, right then. The moral was they took the bet and would honour it. I guess some bookies have more credibility than others. |

it says everything you need to know about this rancid company, that they're happy to take bets on races that never happen(cartoon racing),but apparently void bets on those involving real horses & jockies.
|
|
By:
btw,you can access the campanelle result on the wh site, but i cant see it on l/crookes which suggests they were unaware of it.As far as the bets concerned though theres still the problem that a lumpy bet would certainly have had to be rung through,no doubt at that point the question of bet validity should have been sorted.
|
|
By:
hold on,on the wh site heading the actual result it says UK 09.51,so if thats the real off time maybe the race had been run before the OP had put his bet on,hence the void.

If Ladfobts didn't want to take bets on this group 1 race then the bet should have been rejected at presentation, surely these terminals can "say" computer says no, snifff . Think how many sleepers they get with this total incompetance !
|
|
By:
This debate has taken a disturbing turn !! Barrowboy reckons the race was run in the morning - in Italy !!
Paul Haigh reckons that everything Ladcocks bet on is on their website hence there will be no need for "empty" (or whatever Laddies call them) bets that have to be manually settled .... |

Here are Ladbrokes shop rules. help.ladbrokes.com/utility/getfile.aspx?rid=598 The only mention of foreign racing is HORSE RACING
Rules of Racing We accept bets on specified races staged under Jockey Club and National Hunt Rules in Great Britain and equivalent organisations abroad. There is no mention of which meetings or races that are deemed either acceptable or unacceptable. |
|
By:
Copied and pasted from their on line Horse Racing Rules
Acceptance of bets We accept bets on specified races staged under Jockey Club and National Hunt Rules in Great Britain. We are also pleased to accept horseracing bets on major races taking place across the world. Details of these races will appear on our website. So, would it be described as a major race? A Group One in Italy most definately yes. Was it on their website? We are led to believe it wasn't. The question is, what do the shop rules state? I shall visit the local Laddies this afternoon and report back. |

i asked in a shop for a price on shanghai bobby for the Kentucky derby, ladcrooks not offering market on their website, the girl phoned head office and gave me a price of 10-1, shorter than elsewhere but they gave it to me even tho not on the web, i think the guy has to be paid but it would help if he had put sp on his bet then he'd get the industry return as per racing post rather than racecourse Div (interestingly some bookies only pay div from germany and Oz SIS racing)

With nothing apparently specific in their rules, the onus of responsibility should largely be down to them. Just as they expect you to know the rules, so they should expect the staff to know the rules. The staff member who took the bet should be aware of which meetings/races are acceptable. The failure of the staff to detect that the bet is "apparently" unacceptable should have known that and told you. Their failure to do so, must put the responsibility on themselves.
|
|
By:
It does say in the rules however: Fairness and Openness
We pride ourselves on our customer service and our commitment to operating our business fairly and in a responsible way. If they are going to be fair, and accept the responsibilty for accepting the bet, then they should pay you. |

As promised the wording from the rules in a shop...
RULES OF RACING We accept bets on specific races staged under Jockey Club and National Hunt rules in Great Britain and equivalent organisations abroad. There you have it. Obviously the race was run under the rules of the Italian Jockey Club, so was it a specific race or not? In my opinion, it has been left open to abuse from the rule maker. If your bet wins it was not a specific race, if it loses then no more is said about the matter, all bets accepted. Way to ambiguous to be of help to the poor punter |

Advised the OP NOT to use IBAS but I hope they find for him. Think they should.

I told you that the bet would be settled in your favour as it was a no brainer...
Once again those who think that they have even half a clue about Betting Shop rules, and I think a Bookmaker apologist called banned-banks (but he changes his username so often and sometimes even to another who he is arguing with) was one of them, come on here and spout rubbish.I think the moron clive82 a lowly paid employee of a former "Big Three" Company may have had a pop. Perhaps clive82 and banned-banks are really the same person.... |

Homeforetea if you had a short term memory that wasn't on a par with that possessed by a goldfish you will recall that I said that if the rules stated that they covered the meeting it would be paid and if they didn't he wouldn't.
I think you will find I was 100% correct but hey don't let the facts get in the way of your nonsense. |

I can remember you posing on here as me banned-banks..
And I seem to remember you pleading for someone to go into a Ladbrokes shop (!) and read the rules... No-one came forward that supported your argument because they could not get past the FOBTS... |
|
By:
With my short term memory how can anyone be so stupid to think that a punter who backed a horse in a GROUP ONE RACE with the card PUBLISHED IN THE RACING POST should not be paid...
Only minimum wage staff at a former top bookmaker.... |

Hey Bon Viveur the ways things are going I would apply for a job as the Corals cleaner..
Oops they are no more just like the firm in six months so I hear !! |

Which bookmaker did you work for? PP?
|

Paddy Power used to be the best bookmaker in the World....
Unfortunately they have gone the way of that rancid nobet£3.65 and realised that there are many sheep to be fleeced.... Could have worked for them but chose not too.... |

Paddy Power used to be the best bookmaker in the World....
Did the start of their demise tie in precisely with the date you left them by any chance? |
|
By:
You flatter me Bon Viveur..
But no. By the way have you seen their horse racing prices.Lowest in the industry.Ladbrookes will be advertising favourably with them !! |

To be fair the whole thing is getting a bit farcical nowadays.
Without wishing to get into the machines/shops/online debate it is clear that the firms are now making it obvious that they just want "recreational" punters and have no real interest in getting involved with more serious punters. It is a battle to see who can get the biggest slice of the mug market rather than a battle to see who is the most skilled bookmaker. Mind you when you look at the figures they churn out you can hardly blame them for this strategy. Why invest chunks of money chasing high risk cash when they are drowning in zero risk mug money. |

Could not have put it better myself banned-banks...
By the way the last post was me changing my username and I am sure that my next post will be pull...... |
