How can SiS still be charging 8k a year for that rubbish ? Recently lost Kelso and Exeter to Turf TV - picture quality continues to be carp - pictures even slower now than before - apart from that is pretty good value

there are around 8500 betting shops , the majority of which pay for SIS .
i was told there are only around 50 home subscribers to SIS , so home subscribers doesn't even account for 1% of there overall business . i doubt that SIS care too much if people from home subscribe or not . |

50 x 8k a year is still £400,000 extra a year (and if the pictures were decent quality and speed you could multiply that by 3 or 4 in my opinion

The racecourses associated with SiS need to look at how poorly their tracks are represented by them. Very poor quality pictures mostly squeezed in between a dog race or foreign/cartoon race - no build up or replays and now so far behind live that people are looking for alternatives. Not sure how sponsors feel about the sh1te coverage shown on SiS but no wonder that Kelso/Perth and Exeter have seen the light

Im a home service subscriber and ive just came back from holidays yesterday - I had a chance to do a quick time check after reading the posts on here and I was fairly pee'd that the times are around the 3.6 secs to ATR now - Has anyone spoke to someone at SIS about this - i just spoke to customer service and unsurprisingly they were unaware of this - hopefully she will get back to me when she speaks to someone more technical.
Having read they are moving to media city im hoping its just a temporary thing - be interested in hearing from anyone thats spoken to someone at their end about it. cheers |

It really is time that someone somewhere took an in depth look into the in running game.
I would not be at all surprised if a very murky world was discovered involving some people winning fortunes through less than what would be deemed correct procedures |

TRD- the fact that many people "secretly" go to racetracks to play from live feeds says it all. Try getting a racecourse manager to tell you that they are making good money from in-running players !! The fact that SiS said they were going to speed up "early this year" and never have (as we know they have now got slower) makes you wonder if the tracks getting the wedge from track players have put some pressure on to leave things alone. As you say it is a murky world

technology moving forward basically means we all pay more and in terms of latency get less, C4 analogue replaced by digital > increased delay, sky last year to this year > increased delay, not looking good
as far as the murky in-running world, well what an opportunity for some journalist to prove they have the ordinary punters interest at heart (and in doing so the future interest of the horse racing in general)and tackle this, they've know it for a long time, but havent done anything... |

all the hardcore in running punter wants or craves is an in running punter....even usain bolt can't give the 100th fastest runner in the world a 1.5 second start so why should the best in runners be able to give the less competent players the same...it's a no brainer LEVEL PLAYING FIELD would BOOST IR LIQUIDITY and we'd all be happy.....but it won;t happen

its alright ppl in glass boxes playing lip service to the 'level playing field' mantra, but the reality is a lot if not most of those ppl dont really mean it because they'd likely fold like cardboard and slide right down the food chain as more able players take the food out their mouths

Well its just a latency issue from moving offices - hopefully be back to normal as soon as - not ideal but not to get too stressed about as long as we aint talking about it again in a months time. As far as the fibre optic stuff goes - that seems to go have gone all quiet. so who knows when or if that will happen.

Not sure if they're covering their asses, but here is a quote from an email I received
very recently from SIS regarding the home service: "For your information, there is usually a delay from the race track to us of 1.5 – 2 seconds but we are normally 1.5 – 2 seconds faster than ATR." Covering their asses or is this the new norm ??? |

SiS plus in Ireland leap frogged in front of of SiS last week but the gap is marginal.SiS remains in front of both Betfair live video and ATR.TurfTV was slowed down last March to accomodate HD and its subsequent data but remains in front of RUK.

The format on RUK changed back in March if you remember and TurfTV are linked with them.I believe it is all a case of having the option and being HD ready.Either way,TurfTV is nearly as far behind live action as SiS.

Everyone with Sky TV can compare Betfair live video with ATR and RUK (if a subscriber).As for the gap between SiS and ATR it is about 2.5 seconds whilst TurfTV beats RUK very marginally,approx 0.4 secs.

so on that above logic you are saying sis is 2.5 seconds ahead of ATR, but LV can be 3 and 4 seconds ahead of ATR So that would make LV 1.5 seconds ahead of sis something doesnt add up |

When I started this thread lv was .2 sec ahead os SIS. Lv was approx 4 secs ahead of atr. Over the last 2/3 days lv has slowed down dramatically (struggle to get 2.5/3 secs ahead of atr).
So if SIS is now ahead of lv it's because lv has slowed down not SIS been speeded back up. What is blatantly obvious that as sonn as lv was a smidgeon ahead of SIS, lv was slowed down by a good second. They couldn't have lv ahead of SIS at the prices. |
