Report brigust1 August 11, 2012 10:33 PM BST
He should win this. The 2nd favourite won't stay, the 3rd favourite isn't ridden by the stable jockey, Golden Lilac hasn't recovered her old form, Buick's horse is'nt good enough and nor is the 3 year old and he has the beating of the others. If he runs to form he wins and 5/2 is a good price.
Report jonnyfc38 August 11, 2012 10:38 PM BST
i think moonlight cloud will stay wasnt stopping at all on bad ground last time, only blowout over a mile came in the guineas and chances are shes stronger now and stamina on the dam side but still excelebration for me GL
Report brigust1 August 11, 2012 10:45 PM BST
She may stay but staying at this level and being good enough are two different things plus she only ran 7 days ago. And the horse she beat, Whizz Kid, is a five furlong horse. There are too many slowly run races in France but tomorrow Elusive Kate will make them all stay. And Ryan Moore is a big plus.

I spent my children's inheritance in the casino. Gambling addict admits to wasting over £150,000 on slot machines and roulette

Phyllis Sofocleous lost over £150,000 through gambling on slot machines and the roulette tables

Each year £46 billion is spent on gambling machines in the UK.

Up to 500,000 Britons admit to having a gambling problem and this week Deputy Labour Leader Harriet Harman admitted that Labour's decision to relax the gambling laws when they were in in power was a mistake.

Phyllis Sofocleous is one woman who has learned to her cost how addictive the lure of the big win can be, losing over £150,000 on roulette and gambling machines.

Appearing on This Morning alongside her daughter today Phyllis said:

'I started gambling when I was out with friends and it gave me an adrenalin rush.

'After my divorce I had some money that was supposed to be invested for my children, but it was sitting there in the bank and I passed a casino everyday on the way to work in London.

'Life at home wasn't easy at that time and my friends had started going to the casino so I popped in a few times.

'I went once a week, then twice a week, three times ... soon I was going every night and lying to my family about where I was, pretending to work overtime.

'The problem is you go in, you play and you win so you think it will be the same the next time but it isn't, and you lose so you go back hoping that it won't happen again.

'You always think you know where that ball is going to drop.'

Daughter Gigi Petite can't understand the draw of gambling so much money. she said:

'We didn't realise where she was going every night at first, but I knew she was lying about something.

'It was worrying but I was a bit younger and I didn't know how much she was losing, I didn't know it was possible to lose that much money.

'When I found out I felt sorry for her, because I know that she didn't do it to be selfish. My brother was very angry.

'I think she was doing it with good intentions though.'

Phyllis's daughter Gigi Petite says she isn't angry with her mother because she didn't gamble to be selfish

'My mum is a strong woman so it was sad she to see her lying and be in denial.

'It's such a shame because that money could have been invested for our future.'

Ian Semel, also on the sofa with Eamon Holmes and Ruth Langsford, is a gambling addiction counselor who calls gambling the hidden addiction.

He said: 'Once you're in a casino it can feel like a pull. And the difference with gambling over every other addiction is that noone will know there is a problem until debts start mounting up and there are money problems.

'People can gamble very secretly and keep it in their world. If you have a problem with alcohol or drugs people can see it, but you can get away with gambling for a lot longer.

'It doesn't matter what you gamble on, things have changed, people can gamble 24/7 on anything now.

'But the good news is that the treatment has changed too and there are measures in place to help people seek help, such as self exclusion from casinos.'

Phyllis, whose new partner has helped her kick the gambling habit, added:

'You see the awareness stickers on the machines but you forget what you are doing.

'I really didn't think I needed help until there was no money left.

'I don't know what would have happened if I hadn't met my new partner at the time I did.

'I'm glad my daughter knows because it's hard to lie anymore. It's out in the open so I feel better in myself now that the story is out there.'

I'm not going to get into a detailed discussion about Excelebration either. I don't think he has earned his rating purely because much of the opposition has be scared off by Frankel. I will wait and see what Excelebration does now he is not up against Frankel. If they dare run him again that is. If I were AOB I would pack him off to stud today.

In the space of 7 days, gone from advising AOB to retire him ......... to backing him for a Grp 1 mile race (good field) with Lads and BF Wink
Report brigust1 August 11, 2012 11:06 PM BST
Andrew there is a huge difference between a rating a horse has and how he has achieved it and his form. You should know that. A rating is just a number form is in the book. Stop looking for arguments all of the time. I'm a punter and do this for a living and I hope I know a good bet when I see one.

And if I were AOB I would send him to stud he is risking a lot, a hell of a lot and that mekes him an even better bet. Read the script Andrew, read the script.

It's Immortal verse for me, if she's right, good turn of foot this mare.
It should be set up for her.
Report brigust1 August 12, 2012 12:06 AM BST
Three horses in the race have already beaten her fair and square over this trip and I think, just think mind, when she beat Goldikova she was on a faster strip up the stand rails. Especially when the rag switched behind her and finished 4th. That can happen at Deauville.
Report motley01 August 12, 2012 12:14 AM BST
You do spout off some cr-p, faster strip of grund my a-rse, she beat goldikova
fair and square, quickened up much better than her, won comfortably, ascot didn't
go her way, if she runs her race, she won't be far away. Top class mare.
Report brigust1 August 12, 2012 12:27 AM BST
No need for that Motley. It's only my opinion the same as it is only your opinion. It's a standout piece of form for her and I think that is why. Of course I don't know but neither do you. If that is her true form then she is a serious danger and everyone who has her down at 16s is way out.
Report jonnyfc38 August 12, 2012 12:31 AM BST
i couldnt have her as good as she is i think shes being trained for an autumn campaign with her being out so late

I'd like to see Excelebration win (to boost Frankel's profile) but he's an insane price around 2/1 - utter madness, and I'll be paying if he wins.
Report Navel-Gazer August 12, 2012 12:54 AM BST

short answer.... no!

immortal verse is quite simply an outrageous price. i had a good bet.
Report jimbo27 August 12, 2012 9:11 AM BST
excelebration fair price 9/4 and sensible on most peoples books given that for the most part he has been only horse to stay in the same county as frankel 11/4 - 3/1 would be value.

Navel 7/2 - 4/1 is an absolute no go unless something bad happens and bookies get wind of it and the 6/1 you say you'd take is just plain crazy he ain't running in a 25 runner h'cap he's running in a grp1 with only 3 viable alternatives that i can see.

For what its worth i think he'll win has decent form in the book and numbers to back it up. has trn of foot for false run french races and gosden horse may make it a decent pace anyway. Good chance to step out of shadows gd luck all with your selections
Report FELTFAIR August 12, 2012 10:32 AM BST

Jimbo, they won't crawl here, fallons will probably get further, and wants a gallop,
cityscape will be handy, elusive leads. Great race, fav priced up as main betting interest
will be from uk/ire, not saying he won't win, but no value, could drift.

Brigust, I have read your script .... and can see absolutely no reason whatsoever why AOB is risking a lot by running Exelerbration .... and it really doesn't make him an even better bet, that is YOUR interpretation of the scenario.

I personally will not be backing him, but I hope he wins for you. It will only strengthen Frankels form as it's a very good field.

They can't help the fact that BC is more highly regarded as a champion because she will meet the opposition head on and not set back and win setup races against hamdicapers.
Report ima_mazed66 August 13, 2012 3:29 AM BST
LOL @ meet the opposition head on, yeah she's really raced outside her own country loads more times than Frankel and even then was up against 7f-milers and barely scrambled over the line.

Add to that her only serious 6f rival Society Rock was sat down in the stalls as they opened and lost 12L on the leaders and about 6L on Black Caviar but was still only beaten 2L in the end.

LOL....I've told you before but your ability to retain information is getting the better of you again, I'm the one who originally made the statement about let's have some consistency about which are reasons and which are excuses.

Here's the race again:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FQMnHFQByzo

feel free to point out what I said regarding Society Rock was wrong and if any races are paramount that you don't miss the start then it's a sprint but even without SR, Black Caviar struggled to beat a 7f-miler at 6f.

Being right often tends to be boring I'm afraid but understand how that's something you don't often have to concern yourself with but no, I don't have something more insightful to add as I was bang on the first time around. Happy

The only thing injured about Black Caviar SecondComing was her reputation.

Maybe you should have looked up the horse's name on Wiki megsy? Does that mean I can still go on for the next 6 months about it now or would that make me as desperate as you now that you've make another mistake in the finer detail? Does it change the general point you were making and render it meaningless now too? Grin

I was just hoping to see this all conquering mare come over and beat our B Graders by a street like all of the Aussies on here were telling us she would and told Frankel how was avoiding her through fear, but then she turned out to be a massive disappointment and fell over the line against Moonlight Dream, er sorry, Moonlight Cloud and that one isn't even a sprinter and has only raced twice at 6f when well beaten 3¾L by Deacon Blues and then only just by a head by Black Caviar.

totally agree secondcoming. he hasnt admitted moonlight cloud was a certainty beaten, he got off that question quick smart and brought BC into it, WTF has BC got to do with excelebration and moonlight cloud. all i can think of is the winner is by an australian sire and the unlucky runner was moonlight cloud who was beaten by a tired, injured BC.  he hates anything australian, i think he dreams aussies, i hope they are nightmares Wink

moonlight cloud cant beat an unfit, tired BC who was racing our of season ,crossing half way around the world and this same horse was a certainty beaten when 4th to excelebration, who suposedly is their 2nd best miler.
make matters worst, moonlight cloud is a 7f horse Shocked

yes proves to me milers other than frankel are average and makes their number one horse look even better, no wonder he dont travel far from home
