BB - that's right squire...I'm recalling them now.
Who else wore those? |
By:
I remember the day that Tessla and High Estate won TEN2FOLLOWER. It was the same day that Warning won the QE2 thrashing Salse by 5 lengths. Great days racing that was.

Think Mrs Hue Williams was Eastern Euro - she has Seraphima which was 4th or 5th in one of the Oaks. Colonel Hue had Classic Example ( have a pic of him on my wall from the Schweppes Calendar) who was placed behind Dunfermline and Alleged in the Leger.

VL - I'm thinking that Henry had more for VHW...recall any?
By:
Can't think of any as I always associate them with P Walwyn when he was in his pomp.

Pauli.
I had a £60 treble on High Estate, Tessla and Casey (9/2 in in the 12f handicap ater running in the Park Hill). Won nearly £2k. Regretted notmaking an acca with Warning. |

By:
Well done on the treble TEN2FOLLOWER. I must admit I can't remember Casey winning but I know it was trained by Cumani.
By:
Re Mrs Hue-Williams - English Prince won the Irish Derby in her colours. Not sure who trained it though

TRELAWNEY - trained by George Todd, at Manton.
A real Ascot specialist. Became well-known as a late developing Stayer - for winning the Ascot Stakes Handicap and Queen Alexandra Stakes DOUBLE, at Royal Ascot in 1962 and 63 - aswell as the Goodwood Cup in 1963. Ridden by 'Scobie' Breasley Finished runner-up in the Ascot Stakes in 1964 - and the Brown Jack Handicap, at the King George and Queen Elizabeth meeting at Ascot - which he had also won earlier in his career - from just 3 outings in 1964. Originally trained by R J Colling - Trelawney also won the Chester Cup in 1960, and was beaten a Short-head the following year. |

Good interview with Clive Brittain, on Ch4 this afternoon - continued tomorrow.
He spoke of his early days at Warren Place - when he worked for Henry's Father-in-law, Sir Noel Murless. |

Thought it might have been Homefield if he had won it - front runner that used to go about 30 lengths clear at the start? Smackover was another decent one for Walker - won at Goodwood too. Is Smackover the same horse that ran for B A Mcmahon, a miler who got my namesake up the duff to produce a horse named Rise Over trained by Ken White, won at Warwick at 33/1! |

Before anyone asks...I've got nothing to hide and I posted this on another thread;
Navel-Gazer 12 Jul 12 19:05 Joined: 12 Jul 12 | Topic/replies: 15 | Blogger: Navel-Gazer's blog Koi - it's not a previous name as my alter-ego (Foetus) is still aboard. I've just opened this other account today as I have funds & different bets (ante-post) in separate accounts - they're easier to keep track of. Nothing untoward going on squire...but using a separate account means you can't post on the forum with the original one. At least I'm not being a bellend and singing my own praises (as many do) on different threads ![]() PS - Fidway...you should know all of us nostalgic freaks are hopeless with what happened yesterday! It seems like I'm not alone in that time-warp ![]() |

By:
Bold Arrangement was owned by Ray Richards (I think)
I know the colours you mean...Elsworth had a few for that owner (AJ) as well Lugana Beach? |
By:
herodotus won the easter stakes on his debut.wasd downhill from there though
By:
Herodotus was RAY Richards
![]() |
By:
Those Richards must be related...I swear I remember some of Brittain's horses switching colours (Ray - AJ, and vice-versa)
By:
A J (Tony) Richards (Bold Arrangement etc) colours were black and white halved with yellow sleeves and a black/white check cap.
By:
Don't think I've got a chance of remembering Clive's debutante if it's recent
![]() Was it a filly? |
By:
Blackbarn - Village Star, Lobkowicz & the one beginning with 'P' disqualified from TWO Doncaster Cups!
![]() |
By:
Petrizzo - got it!
![]() |
By:
Any more you guys remember in the Lugana Beach colours?
Black & white halved and light blue sleeves? Clive had loads, and I can't remember any ![]() |
By:
Those colours are/were the colours of R K (Ray) Richards. Exactly the same as Tony's except with blue sleeves instead of yellow.
By:
BB - vertically halved (not horizontally) on Lugana Beach if memory serves
By:
Correct N-G.
By:
stewarts -
The Ian Walker SMACKOVER was a 2-yr-old in 1974 - Can you work it out form there? |
By:
Thanks onlooker, TRELAWNEY cleaned me out when TRYING to run a book and couldn't
get to a 'phone to lay off, never tried again. It was a 3yo trained by R.J. Colling and won the second of it's novice races. |
By:
Would imagine it was Onlooker would have been about 6/7 when winning a few for Brian over a mile and comes up as a 37 yo horse now on RP.
