If he isn't going to be doing any more features or interviews its a huge loss to the racing media, he's brilliant at his job.

Shirley he isn't going to be making a living with his ridic commentaries tho?

Chapman won me round - where initially he was irritating, he became entertaining, and capable of genuinely insightful interviews.

I can accept that Chapman is a bit like marmite.  I like him.

Whatever you say, and despite the histrionics, he does seem to be respected in the main within the industry and has a lot of very good contacts.  For starters, Sir Henry doesn't strike me as someone who would suffer a fool gladly (you can see the disdain on his face when Rishi approaches him), and yet he seems happy to give 'special' interviews to Matt and give him his time.  Similarly, Dermot Weld.

I think he's far shrewder than many give him credit for, and wish him all the best.

Duggan said about 1 hour ago that viewers would be seeing plenty more of Matt and that all that was happening was the it was the last GETON show.

Didn't he win racing presenter of the year a couple of years ago? On the other hand he has gone a bit stale and perhaps it is better for him to move on anyway.

Matts mistake.
To be part of the Ronseal gang you needed to spray the fence so nowt sticks when perched above.
Unfortunately Matt sprayed himself.

very sad loss to ATR which they can ill afford given their roster of "talent" though hopefully he will not cut all ties....he is a good guy Matt and makes even the worst racing almost entertaining.

Matt has been fun and good for a laugh.

The best of luck to you Matt. The banter with Oliver Brady was out of this world.

"Pauli:
I hate ATR with a passion but I'm sorry that Matt is on his way out as he was the only one I could tolerate.  He has a real enthusiasm for racing which is absent in all the other ATR presenters.  I will miss him"

Totally agree squire, but nevertheless...the genius behind this decision (who clearly despises racing) only gives a fcuk about how much money they can get from their incessant adverts, and rimming of the bookies! Cry

Still cant believe the news. What the hell are ATR playing at?

I fear the end is near for ATR if ratings dont improve fter the revamp

Capewine - that may well be. However you cant deny he was well respected in the racing community

eh ? He's an arse licker and the fact that his fellow privately-uneducated mates give him the time of day only reflects badly on them. Most people that train horses are without much dignity and intelligence.

Henry Cecil respects Matt. Cecil doesnt suffer fools too easily

Matt isnt afraid to have a pop at jockeys/trainers and also himself.

He calls it as it is

Cant believe the abuse he is getting here. Comical!

the disgrace is that ATR continue to use Kelly and Muzzeltoff. The employment of Broon by RUK is even more disturbing. Even Domestos doesn't get rid of the cnt.

I was delighted seeing the victory of Simenon today. I tipped him on my BBC website today and also on Tuesday. I also told my friends that Alain Royer Dupre 's horse was the only possible danger....and it wasn't a danger but finished second. Among my "friends " was my solicitor who took my advice and had a fiver rev f/c.
                   You asked.

I'm hoping that he will be saying goodbye to the 'booth' and 'geton' and is still staying as an ATR presenter.

Whatever anyone thinks of Matt Chapman at least he is prepared to express an opinion. He often got it wrong, but, who does'nt. The guests he had regularly on the programme i.e. Cecil, Weld, Cumani etc., tells you he wasn'nt the complete clown some have said he is. These people wouldn't give someone from the media the time of day if they didn't respect them.

If he is leaving ATR I wish him well.

i suppose they've still got the weavershark and luke

but to have to listen to the likes of nicky fitz, an average jockey at best
giving out tips like he's some propunter and understands value and odds is
laughable and all the in running talk with no mention of the picture delays
