It's exactly the sort of situation where the rules are wrong. Dettori has blatantly not cared that he's causing interference and undoubtedly stopped the momentum of opinion poll. You could definitely argue that he cost opinion poll at least half a length. However, there is no chance of it being thrown out.

Onlooker, yes that's the problem. How do you judge momentum. Until the bumps Opinion Poll looks the winner. It's possible and in fact maybe likely that Colour Vision picked up again and would have won but it's certainly far from certain. The rules encouraged dettori to bump the opponent. If there's any reasonable doubt the 2nd should get the race imo.

I did not have any money on the race so not talking through my pocket, i WOULD BE GUTTED if i had backed the 2nd because Frankie stopped its momentum..It cost it the race

If the 2nd wasn't god and had a jockey that wasn't employed by the 1st there was a small chance he would lose it but LF and Mo at Royal Ascot? I don't think it will be appealed somehow.

Barza backers never had a fookin chance in stewards - the toffs behind the desk looked totally disinterested in the translaters offerings.....
he didn't say anything though all the translator did was explain what frankie said

The question should be what % was Opinion Poll to win without the bump. It went 1.11 inrunning so that tells the story. I think without the bumps and hindsight 70% chance so he should of got the race.

The real enquiry should be into why the favourite was cat altogether, imo.
Actual Stewards' was fairly pointless, imo. For all concerned, the result had to stand. Pretty obvious, really. Rules may be rules, but they don't always apply at Royal Ascot.
My three bets in the race came 1st, 2nd, and nowhere (fav).

Forget the parties involved - the winner should have been placed second. The head on shows bumping took place twice. The side view shows that Opinion Poll had just taken the lead when bumping took place. Are we now debating how many bumps equal a length? The decision was quite diabolical. I cannot help but compare it with Bizzy Izzit being disqualified at Sandown when it was hardly visible that any interference took place. P.S. I had no bet in the race so do not speak out of my pocket.

ArmchairIdiot - If the ground was quicker they wouldnt have seen which way Frankie went. CV is special stayer. Hates ground with ease in it, and done well to win.
Some of us actually took into account the rain that had fallen and put money on the horse more suited to the conditions... funny that.
Done well to win? You mean Frankie did well to knock the wind out of the horse that should have won.

Anyone would think that Horse Racing UK had a vested financial interest in the profitability of the bookmaking industry, and that disqualifying the winner would have meant that the bookmakers have to pay out twice, imo...

Oh shut up you toffie nose twit. I'm entitled to a massive dummy spit after that joke of a stewards decision.
Punters obvously run a long last in the list of priorities over there.
My fault actually believing your racing had any integrity.

detori is a first class mug and lucky he got away with that and didnt cost the stable the race ,if it was the other way around detori would have bored into him and handed the race to the 3rd .

Waiting for the results of the enquiry I was reminded of the controversial finish to the Rose Ravine/Crimson Embers Stayers Hurdle where both were owned by the same person. The placing weren't altered then as there was no objection.
