they ve got a business to runn and employ alot of people, generate alot of money for racing and for the tax man, they are still pretty big odds on most runners so punters will be happy with that - punters arent bothered about these % over rounds.
|
|
By:
Of course they are not bothered comingupwithrubbish.
Why would they be! |
|
By:
Just out of curiosity - Yesterday, I checked the 'book' on the Scottish National in the Betfred advert in the Weekender.
200% - give or take the fractions. |

i m a punter and i look at the price of the horses i want to back - i dont work out the %over rounds and moan because its too high, and i dont know a punter who does ,unless maybe in a 5 horse race and they go 3/1 all of them.

thats why your going down the hill now.or should that be hills.. ![]() u must work for laddies or be a bookies rep...call yourself a punter...dont make me laugh..u back a horse with laddies at 33/1 when its 100/1 here....of course been a punteru would of probably worked out that's its a 10/1 shot and the value is to be had at laddies.... ![]() ![]() |
|
By:
the discussion wasnt laddies v on here - its was about over rounds, the average punter dosent even notice ,unless he thinks its a poor price.
|
|
By:
their isnt many average punters on here..they are highly skilled and have evolved into smart thinking mathematically minded individuals and believe me they get p***** off when the average punter is getting shafted...its good to highlight the fact so ppl are aware of it......percentage over rounds matter to ppl here..so does value..its the difference between winning and losing..

A word of warning to anyone using a bookmaker , make sure the instructions are clearly wrote on your slip as if you accept any verbal declaration that a bet has been"amended on the system" it simply wont stand if it should win with a decent payout!

Not at corals anyway, and I suspect its a regular trick at others that mis-use automated recepting systems!

I will never understand anyone supporting ladbrokes vc hills ppower etc or any of them its unbelievable and i agree with ykickamoocow 100%... why would anyone back their selection @10.1 if its 19/1 here for example... we shouldnt support those rip off merchants that will trim their wings....
|
|
By:
perhaps the bookmakers will arb the bets from freds, hills etc to somewhere else and get double under the counter and does anyone know what rhymes with "avoid the axeman", if you catch my drift

I think the taxman is using the gambling companies as whipping boys and its not really fair as it makes companies have to find the money from somewhere, in fact its common knowledge that some bookmakers are payng more tax than they earn!

By:
What are we all going todo if we cant drink, smoke or have a flutter because the tax makes it all impossible to afford, wont stop the elite in power drinking champayne, they even have a bar that they can smoke at in the house of lords, hypocrits!

I'm an average punter and have no clue what over rounds bookmakers are working from. I just use oddschecker and also check the Betfair market to see which is the biggest price on the horse I want to back after taking commission into account.

odds checker, pretty cool site , i like the price watch for steamers and drifters and you can premeditate directions prices will go later if you like trading!

|
By:

If you are relying on oddschecker for your price changes bf then you must be in the poorhouse !! Since Laddies came back on board it has been "amended".For example if a firm opened up at 20/1 and are now showing 12/1 you would expect the price to be in blue. However if that said firm went 20-10 and then eased the selection to 12/1 then it now shows as a drifter in pink !!
Be very very careful with that site...... |

Same folks will buy a coffee for £3.50 when only costs probably 20p to make. Nobody forces you to pay over the odds for goods/services

coffee shops aren't all over protecting their customers 24/7 (mostly as an excuse to profile everyone that has a bet with them). someone has a £1 win bet at 50/1 when it's 840/1 here. they need to be protected, so does fred call them and explain they're placing win bets at each-way prices ? does he tell them if they want to bet win-only they should use the betfair exchange ?
or does he sit back and fleece ? |
|
By:
have £1 at 50/1 when its 42.0 to lay here he'll send you an email 5 minutes later telling you after a review of your account he'd quite like it if you fked off and never gambled with him again

|
By:
Why on earth would Fred ring someone up who has taken 50/1 a horse that’s 840 on here ,if you layed 50s an 840 chance would you tell the punter that it 840 on here ?
|
|
By:
sounds like a vulnerable punter. doesn't he care about vulnerable punters ?
