Look at the National field and imagine Long Run was top-weight coming in to the race after winning the Gold Cup - 10/3 right? Well Synchronised has just won the Gold Cup and however many times you replay the race, he won on merit. Can McCoy give 1lb to Ballabriggs, 7 to Black Apalachi, 16 to Treacle and 24 to the bottom-weights? I don't see a problem. Killyglen and Giles Cross must be respected off low weights but I don't think Giles X is a National horse.
10/1 is a mistake that must be punished and JP McManus is certain to be weilding the cane and I don't imagine any fractions left by the time the starter dons his bowler. In fact, the owner's Sunnyhill Boy may be the one to keep AP up to his work on the way to the line.
Are you being serious Long run would be 10/3 for this if he won the gold cup in what fantasy land would be such a stupid price i wish he was i could lay him for fortunes place and win .. I would back not to finish if he was in the race ....... And sync is no value either a rubbish price he wont win .....

The problem is not jonjo bookies are hyping up this animal they want to take money for it they know it wont win... Huge weight, hard race at chelts coming up against fresh horses, dodgy jumper, will be on and of the bridle all race and this is the favorite for the national work that out..

A muted reception so far. Maybe some people made up their minds about what could and could not win the National when the weights came out. I don't imagine AP will make much use of him on the first circuit, so Synchronised may actually be suited by the extra distance in that he won't be under pressure to lay upside the lead early. Welsh national win was 3 3/4m on more testing ground. In any case, nobody should dismiss Synchronised on the grounds that Festival form doesn't transfer to Aintree. The extra week's interval between the two meetings has made the old cliche redundant; just look at the first two days' results. Synchronised I'm very optimistic about his chance.

I would rather join the Synchronised Mu£fdiving team in the Olympics than put money on the falsest favourite EVER in the history of the GN.
There will less Q_hunts in the team than those backing AP.nap

I thought similar about GARRISON SAVANNAH - when he ran 2nd in the National - after winning the Gold Cup in 1991
He went off at 7/1 - Ran off a rating (157) - 4 less than Synchronised (161) - But carried just 11st 1 lb - compared to Synchronised's 11st 10 lb.

has to be respected, over park fences he is well capable of giving the weight to these rivals, it is the Aintree fences that create the question mark. He landed sideways after the last in the Gold Cup and still won going away, a fair effort. I think it is quite a weak National this year, I'm on Cappa Bleu e/w, but I think Synch and Giles Cross are the dangers.
OP, re your user name, are you just keen on biscuits or did you study a bit of EU law? Famous trademarks case if memory serves

I think you had better keep Synchronised on your side tomorrow, acey deucy.

neill d - very astute of you, "the legal profession rather appeals to me", and you are free to quote me on any related matter.
No, honestly, the name has its origins with the Fosters Oval, from there to the Allied Dunbar House Of Commons and only a short leap to the Unitedbiscuits Bosnian Peace Corps.
Good luck all, get on Synchronised, or give me a better 10/1 shot!!

Well, FOYLESWAR puts the case more articulately than me on the hitherto unconsidered Grand National forum. (kind of like a House Of Lords to this Common Chamber).

Good luck anyway united, it wouldn't surprise me if he did it as there is only one factor to overcome........ the fences He is by far the best horse in the race. If he gets over the first 6 and things settle down, 10's will look v big.

i dont even think it will beat the stablemate Sunnyhillboy nevermind the rest of the field. another horse will definitely do him up the run in with that weight.

Plenty of opposition, I guess that's why Synchronised is 10/1 now. Not too many choosing from the other 39, funnily enough. Must go now. But I'll be back on tomorrow - first when it trades at 8.0, then when it wins.

Red Rum the very best national horse was one of few in history that ran over 100 races and only fell once!
horses prone too errors have a poor record in the national which is the biggest test for any jumps horse in world, syns odds are a better reflection of it finishing IMO

Icendently syncs time for the gold cup was nearly ten seconds slower than long runs which was on slower surface, on this basis its odds are not justified in this ultimate test!

Ive never backed a horse with more than 11st in the national in my life but my cahunas will be well and truly out at 8am outside ladbrokes tomorrow morning....THE best chaser in the country so has all his 11st+ rivals beat..giles cross was sticking out like a sore thumb on 10-1 but ground going against him now. I wasnt going to bother with sychronised as thought id missed the best prices and expecting it to be 9/2 SP but 12/1 is a MAX BET JOB. Famous last words but just has to get round...

he may not take to the fences but its the same for most of them who havent tried them ,what i see is a gold cup winner trained by probably the best trainer of staying chasers in the country ,ridden by the champion jockey who is still improving , in a handicap trading at 10/1 on here and allegedly 12s at lads tommoz , and for those reasons im in .................deep !

On the plus side Syncs running a hell of a lot better than last year when he came 3rd, 12L down at Uttox a tricky track (Utt 34GS C1HcChL 41K 11-12 3/17 (12L Minella Four Star 9-9) 9/2F) which is 2 furlong less than today but was he running on or fading is the question and the racing post(my source) never shows race comments which is a bit low brow for a major racing data firm, perhaps felllow form pundits know the answer to its stamina!

he made 5 niggling mistakes in the gold cup and a.p was pushing for much of the race but he still come through and powered up the hill and won going away , a lot of people have crabbed the form " only beat a rag and long run didnt run his race ect) but long run jumped and travelled the best i have ever seen him in the gold cup and synchronised still beat him cold , not saying he will win but i think he is still being underestimated 12s is fair imo.

Why not wait until they have jumped the first four or five?
You will know by then whether the horse has taken to it (Ok. he's won top-class races but his jumping is very worrying for this unique test), and because he will be getting the hurry up and have most of them in front of him, whatever is going on, you'll almost certainly get a bigger price than SP anyway.
Personally I don't think he will take to this test but if he does jump those first few fences OK I would not be surprised to see him defy the weight. After all, the further they go, the better he is, which makes his Gold Cup win all the more creditable.
By the way, I like Always Right at 50s on here. Not sure he'll stay but travelled like a beast the last day until stopping as if something amiss. Pretty nice weight, breathing op since, seems a good bet to me.

Just look at the prices of previous favourites...the midnight club went off at 15/2 last year for gods sake.
How can anyone describe a gold cup winner at 12/1 too short or lay of the day??

During the trial it was revealed that Dodd had very little money in his bank account. He did however have £336,000 in cash stashed in suitcases in his attic. When asked by the judge, "What does a hundred thousand pounds in a suitcase feel like?", Dodd made his now famous reply, "The notes are very light, M'Lord."

If you've ever seen Synchronised in the flesh I seriously can not see how you could back him in the National... My money in the match bet is with the thing with blue flashing lights on. Depending how heavily backed he is tomorrow, I will be laying him to place.

Word on twitter that Ladbrokes are going big on Synchronised tomorrow - they are saying they are going to hold a price of 12/1. I would anticipate other bookies following - probably fred, bet 365 and William Hill. I can see Synchronised drifting big time...

Again, so back with faller insurance DUH !! If he gets round he will be in there, can't see AP pulling him up. He stays, he has won top class races and like it or not, he has McCoy on top. Becauseicouldntsee and Alph Beat as well for me. We will see.

Any horse carrying top weight and lifting itself over these fences will start treading water with a mile to go. Yes he stays well but he is racing against plenty of horses will be in their comfort zones with less weight.
