this one really is on a knife edge . i can remember similar scenarios ...a bit of snow actually helps insulate the ground underneath i think , which we are led to believe is ok . however , more snow that is expected may freeze solid on top of the covers making it difficult to remove them on the day . good luck to all at newbury , only been a few times but a smashing course .

it feels like the whole of britan and ireland is waiting and watching from what the clerk said if it doesent come down two heavy tonight the snow it will be fine its all about tonight ..

Sorry to report is snowing, not too heavy but approx an inch already, lets hope it goes as quick as it did last weekend

About an inch on the ground 10 mins from course (by Stroud Green), light dusty snow now.

doneithere - really bored. Equally if this forecast is anything like right it would seem a shame if anyone made a long wasted journey. I am sure if i ever did fancy a pitch at the track you would be able top help me out.

Going Good to Soft(under the covers)no stick reading taken due to the covers. Rails Rails have been moved in so that there is 6m of fresh ground on the inside. All hurdles are set up on fresh ground. Weather Over the last 24hrs 4cm snow. Forecast: Friday: Dry and Bright Max +1 min -4 Saturday: Dry Bright and Sunny Max +1 Inspections Inspection At 9am Friday Other Fleece frost covers have been down protecting the course since 31/1/12 and will be lifted Saturday morning. |

it would be great if newton abbot got the fixture,they sell the best jacket spuds in the country,just the weather for them as well,doubt the track would suit long run mind you.

As I said, in this thread a couple of days ago "it will be off". I live 10 minutes walk and it was -7. Nothing they could have done. Great that it's free entry next Friday though. You get to see the next Champion Hurdler for free.
