23 Sep 13 08:01 Yes the giggilo, two names not talked of around the tv channels at all,but the old boys assure me these were the deal Known steve for 30 years was betting with him for 3/4 years he lives down the road! The early 80s onwards was just cannon fodder for anyone putting the hours in more recordings and coverage of racing books were clueless and on track so they just cleaned up on everything.I was a teenager when I first used to go to steves office as was best mates with his younger brother, when I was in my late 20s I was putting on for him with his brothers I would pick up the paper for him in the morning and be in the office by 7am.If I hadn't met him would probably not have done this for a living and been stuck in the daily rut.In the early days of photo betting steve would have an elastic band running down the screen and rarely got them wrong he also did all the entries for sea deer when it won all those races over a 16 month period and wardara and a few others that ran up sequences over a few seasons. |

Sea Deer landed me a beautiful trixie one day. Lovely horse.

Met Steve Gough twice at Dunstall Park (fibresand).... he got the best info !
Was there the day he ''copped'' £250k on a £3 Super Heinz ! |

|
By:
Thought he went through the card mate... seven races ?....
|
|
By:
He did two one had all winners the other one less winner same races but one with 6 winners the other had 7 that's the bet everbody else had on in the shops think he had the 1,2 in the same race.

|
By:
Did he back all the low draws that day?

23 Sep 13 22:23 Did he back all the low draws that day I can't remember any of the winners it was at least 14 years ago and I wasn't on the bets as I had just started on my own at that point,i rember seeing the bets he showed me but the winners I've forgotten would be easy to find if I knew the year. |

By:
giggsy you are good..but the stuff tree comes up with is truly astonishing.
|
|
By:
There's no one to touch me and at least a dozen on here with mailed picked over a 2 year period could vouch for it and they're just the bets I have time to send out!

Ii remember putting a placepot on(indirectly for someone) , they had put 10p units on the slip,a big bet lots of selections,i walked into low morals and they made me have 5p units(The truth for the winners),mind you they were having plenty of 10 grand checks in that period.

I may have seen some of the older guys posting on this thread as I was a regular at White City, Wembley and Slough. I had 3 dogs, one of them, Claremont Point trained by Paddy Pierce, also had one at Reading with Terry Atkins. A mate of mine had a few with Wally Ginzel at Wembley, he used to take the better one flapping at Hinckley, although I doubt WG knew anything about it. Good days !

25 Sep 13 09:58 Ii remember putting a placepot on(indirectly for someone) , they had put 10p units on the slip,a big bet lots of selections,i walked into low morals and they made me have 5p units(The truth for the winners),mind you they were having plenty of 10 grand checks in that period I remember going into hills having 1100 bets to tuppence in hills shop all they would take for one of steves perms.i went to an independent they took it to 5ps but was a place 6.The placepot paid half the place 6 and the independent had to pay out over 5k just for this £50 bet, they also did tissue prices on all races I remember doing some acca for steve 12 horses mostly very short but they were pricing up 1/2 when these things should've been 1/10.We closed the shop in 3 months! Most of the time we had to travel out,as soon as you're trying to get Canadians on to any sort of stake the alarm bells start ringing and you could never get a bet on.They even had our profiles yet we were only putting on and very rarely visted the same shops. It took e 2 years after I stopped putting on to persuade them the bets I was putting on were my own but that was inevitable I think they let me bet with hills for about 12 months winning consistently on placepots for 2 years.I remember I won 10k and 5k in two weeks back to back the third week I walked in they upped the stakes so you could only do them to 10p so big perms became harder to speculate on and they obviously wouldn't want to take the bets. |

I normally would always go with ~Johnno~ who has put up (Locally) Auroras encore 130 BSP and Neptune Collonges BSP 60 over the last few years, but Tony Calvin's rich vein of form over the last few months over Cheltenham and including Gratzie today at 8.0 and Qualify at 116 (testimented on Betting.Betfair.com)has made him the new Hugh Taylor IMV

There was a guy in late 70's early 80's stewart simpson who wrote a book, called always back winners, then disappeared was he a real person or another fairytale Great book. Certainly contains some excellent information that continues to throw up winners. |
