the whole board should now be charged under the BHA's own code of bringing racing into disrepute.

Have to disagree with the Titanic comment above. It would never have hit an iceberg under their guidance. It would never even have left port.

Paul Struthers looking at the end of his tether. Needs to be sent on garden leave.

Yes gerry. In my experience usually consultants ask what outcome is required and guess what. Thats what the report says. They know they will get paid too. You then have the cop out statement. "We have consulted with experts and this is the outcome we are just implementing their recommendations". The meaning of all this, if things go pear shape blame the consultants not us

they cannot do about turn and save face, which is really what that statement is all about, meanwhile jockeys get banned, trainers and owners are fecked over and we are all screwed as well, dont be backingANY jockey who has a BC ride btw......

oh and where is all this docked prize money going if its not to a horse welfare charity then thats another scandal imo

I have e-mailed Struthers, civilly but expressing my sense of despair. Might help if a lot more did the same. You never know.

..then hopefully when neither side backs down the bha does what is going to happen sooner or later anyway....

the new rules have been so well thought out that still 2 days later, no one can decide what to do with Soumillon's 50k.

If the board won't walk the plank, someone should give them a little prod

If these people were truly accountable, we should be able to see the full minutes of this meeting.
They are meant to represent British Horse racing and all it's various interests.
They appear to think they run a small private members club where they can do what the f**k they want.

Of course they'd already decided pre meeting. I blame Hughes and the jockeys for effectively forcing the decision to do nowt on the BHA.

it was muted that the BHA wanted a complete ban on the whip but thought that wouldnt wash with jocks, trainer etc

so they went with the complicated debacle we have now ,knowing full well that the types of problems we are seeing  would arise

this will then give them the chance to bring in what you want a no whip sport, that is the BHA end game, and that has been told to me by a trainer (ex jockey).

Its all planned................................................. watch this space over the coming weeks.

Why did he think that?

Perhaps they have inadvertently found a solution to the derisory prize-money levels in this country - we just need more jockeys now to cover for those suspended.

So glad the BHA have a sense of urgency. Next they will be saying "don't want to have a knee jerk reaction...." They need to sort it now!

racing in crisis, do me a favour, british racing just had its most succesful day for years despite 2 jockeys not managing to stay within the rules unlike another 40 odd on the same card, seems the obvious answer is ban the whip, because whatever number between 1 and 20 they come up with, some jockeys will always give them an extra one,ive written the jocks a nice placard for their strike,
were on strike because i cant beat a dumb horse more than 5 times with a stick in a couple of seconds, Blush

personally i would be happy with that 11KV.......i realise others will not be...but in the longer term it is going to come so why not just get it over with....

..a rather underhand way of doing this though.

the problem the BHA face now is that if they revert back someone will have to fall on thier sword and reign. I expect no one is willing to do that hence the status quo.

I really like the phrase 'the new rules, adopted by the suthority'.

Sort of suggests they found them by contacting social services and asking if they had any sets of rules looking for a good home.
