Being sent to the States - for Quarter Horse races, over the Winter.

Never get pulled in when they go off like that. Probably the best way to get one beaten.

Either one of the worst rides of the season or tallywagger has hit the nail on the head. Either way questions should be asked.

That looked suspicious, thought Fallon was too good a jockey to ride such a misjudged race, with the new whip rules the perfect excuse

I wish I waited to lay it...1.19 IR ffs

Was it a bad ride? I have to confess I was thinking "jockey's race" after the rest let him go clear because he looked as though he was just letting the horse bowl along.

We are all talking aftertime though. What were people doing backing at less than 1/5 and 1/20 a place if its obvious its gone too fast ?

Horse never made the running b4.

Agree Feck , especially seeing most of the dangers were first timers and might not be punished

I'm not aftertiming - laid a bit of 1/5 and 1/3. Had backed pre race but thought going too quick especially with the headwind

its what he tried to do on ballinger ridge!!

yes easy to talk afterwards and obviously plenty thought it was going to pi55 it ...... but heavily laid from 1.4 down suggest that some had other ideas.

one thing is for sure, we will never know.

Wouldn't have been his decision to trail blaze like that he'd be riding to instructions anyway
By:

When: 11 Oct 11 14:18
so Luca said "lead and go a millions miles an hour in soft ground and a headwind"?

Maybe he did if wanted to lay it

Hayden, highly unlikely that's true with a cumani runner. very rare his horses make the running and almost never go bombing off in front. fallon will just tell cumani the horse got away from him.

thats how to get a horse handiccapped
By:

When: 11 Oct 11 14:22
Fallon doesnt get instructions from Cumani, so Cumani has said several times. For a jockey so experienced, it was a very poor ride. He would have got a feel of the ground and the horses ability to handle it on the way down . He made no serious attempt to restrain the horse, in front or trying to get it covered up. As someone else has said there are  more ways to get beat than getting boxed in.

pedro he clearly went too fast but not crazy fast hence the short price backs. I think  hes a pretty moderate horse with a perfect ride

well said Hayden....fallon knockin on here is sooo boring

Although ten seconds outside RP average, that was to be expected on the ground. Even so, Fallon went quicker than is normal for a slow ground mile race. He went about six furlong slow ground speed ( for six furlongs! )

Fallon the only jockey in the race not to use his whip!

My point exactly. "knows Newcastle like the back of his hand ", makes that first ride even more inexcusable.

July , isnt he allowed a badly judged ride now and then ? Plenty of other jocks do this now and again.
By:

When: 11 Oct 11 14:44
Any gambler financially involved in the sport that expects a jockey to ride to the best of their ability in every race , a trainer to produce horses to run to 100% ability on every run or indeed a horse to run to produce their best on every outing needs to find another less expensive hobby , otherwise life will always be full of disappointments.

Good luck today all   Happy
