I think with the problems many suffer in the world today a commentators calling - mistakes or not - is somewhat insignificant.

Zebadei, it wasn't a commentary mistake. He called the result without calling a photo and then corrected himself shortly after. By not calling a photo he didn't allow any photo betting.

I agree. Instead of taking on the racing post they seem to have retained all that was bad about Sleepy Hollow. They don't even incorporate the big advantage they have on market information into their database.

I have got no axe to grind but someone should stick up for him, I saw him last week and like most of you asked him how he can call them so quick, he said come and have a look so I went to his box, the technology he has is superb he is looking at an image of the winner before the commentator has finished talking, and the equipment was bought some years ago to do just that get the result out as quick as possible so punters can get paid quicker re-invest it so more money cames back into racing though the levy. If anyone wants to see and you are racing ask him,like I did, he has no problem showing anyone.

Proof if ever there was that it's nothing to do with advanced technology and solely to do with Smith's ego. Really should have been sacked years ago. It's also comical that his defence for trying to be clever is that it helps the levy to have the result through without calling a photo. At most he's saving about 20-30 seconds. Punters are hardly getting their winnings much earlier. It's all about ego and hopefully after he's now messed up yet again someone will do something about him.

Spot on Asparagus,it's time the BHA retired him,or told him to follow the guide lines like all the other judges.He does his best to spoil photo betting for the sake of getting his name mentioned on tv.Everyone on here knows it was only a matter of time.Wonder what the other judges think of him.
