Now that is perfection. The jockeyship. Terrific ride on a horse who made a few errors. The jockey kept the horse focussed and his class came right through.
By:
well done SL, a tidy haul

Also.the horse as a Novice has battered a solid 155 horse with plenty of experience.

![]() Nobody on itv mentioned Lulamba was bleeding pretty profusely there in the winners enclosure. |

From the front left leg, not his nose

If the others ran their races then he has to be rated 165+ BEFORE running in an Arkle. Not many can have done that.
By:
I would assume they wont be burying the horse behind other runners next time. Horse clearly hated it and was only himself once given daylight.
By:
I'd be worried...I'd worry about a quicker ground 2 miles, he's another that looks like he wants to go further, he was clearly going as fast as he could today, they were grizzled more experienced horses but it was staying power rather than speed that won the day in that race, quicker ground, furlong shorter, that would be a worry.
By:
Archaic thread which was relevant for today. Couldn’t have backed and wouldn’t have laid it. Well done horse and jock. The Cheltenham hill should hold no terrors for either.
By:
All class horse’s should be allowed to stride on….according to the greatest jockey…
By:
He looks an accident waiting to happen to me. Unfortunately. And that is if today's injury is only superficial!
By:
Don’t they all.
By:
To an extent, but the Arkle on rapid going (as it usually is), behind the sofa stuff. They will try and out pressure on his jumping as well, I assume.
By:
Rapid Going???
By:
Yes, compared to winter stuff. It will likely be watered, but the festival won't be ran on slow going unless the weather intervenes.
By:
You want to see an Arkle favourite travel through the race easily, the unease with his jumping comes because he's going as fast as he wants to go, he outstayed them, Nico was niggling him to keep him at it, he's in the same bracket as Romeo, wants to go a stride slower over further, he didn't look quick when Poniros mugged him in the Triumph.
By:
A fluke result,duffy.
Little doubt that the horse would be capable of better over further |

I opposed him purely in case he fell or made bad mistakes but to beat 2 experienced older two milers like that is exceptional for a novice. i was impressed with Steel ally as well but no doubt Lulamba is better.

That one has found a leg......coincidentally it was well backed?

Re the debate about Lulamba possibly being run off his feet in the forthcoming Arkle. Take the trouble to refresh your memory of last year’s win, Jango Baie, and watch a replay. Mar 11 2025.
