This is where the authorities clearly do not have a clue in my opinion.
You can back every other horse in a race in which you have a runner entirely within the terms of the rules and regulations.

Absolutely correct. As long as you do not profiteer by "laying your horse to lose" you can bet on every horse in the race but you must never take bets on your own horse, in full knowledge that it will lose.

well then laying your horse legally is acceptable on betfair then by betting every other one what a stupid rule that is then
Report geoff m May 27, 2010 4:23 PM BST
yep you can back every horse in the race apart from yours to win a pre determined sum say £10k
but you cant lay your own to win a fiver.

This what you do:
Register the horses in the name of your mother.
She backs her runner in the race.
You lay it when necessary on your nominee account.
Never been done ?............[;)][;)]

You would soon run out of money doing that.

"michael59"..........My friend Jimmy rode in an Irish point to point..........all the other owners had the same idea.
Jim reckoned that it was one of his best ever rides.......losing in an entire field of non triers.
