could anyone help me out please, how long does a horse need to be fully fit again after having ran a race? im talking about sprint races btw and how much of an influence can this have on the horse?
Duvauchelle thanks for that but what about if they havent ran for a number of months, will this have an effect on their fitness and maybe not run as good a race as they would of being fully fit?

Sprinters don't need as much 'getting fit' as middle distance horses or stayers. They're either fast or they're not. Easier to get them ready after a lay off.

some horses do need a "pipe opener" to get them fit but trainers these days are very good at readying a horse. Worth noting too that sprinters tend to run well in a block of time ie over a period of 1-3 weeks and then go off the boil - very highly tuned, nervy animals. Look at the form of the horse and see if it has run well after a break before
