no problem for a lot of sprinters to run again quickly, even the day after, especially if they were not "off" the day before.

Duvauchelle thanks for that but what about if they havent ran for a number of months, will this have an effect on their fitness and maybe not run as good a race as they would of being fully fit?

Sprinters don't need as much 'getting fit' as middle distance horses or stayers. They're either fast or they're not. Easier to get them ready after a lay off.

thanks lads, so how recently a horse has ran shouldnt have much effect on a sprinter horse

It might have an effect. The trainer still has to train it, but it's less of a problem with sprinters.

some horses do need a "pipe opener" to get them fit but trainers these days are very good at readying a horse. Worth noting too that sprinters tend to run well in a block of time ie over a period of 1-3 weeks and then go off the boil - very highly tuned, nervy animals.
Look at the form of the horse and see if it has run well after a break before |
