My missus asked me if Dettori would mind having her photo taken with her at the July Course one Friday night. He said no problem and I took the photo and he walked away just before I could ask him if he had a chance in the next. That's it really, not that exciting but the missus was happy anyway.

Met frankie with an american jockey in a corner shop in mayfair,a day after his ride on Swain.
I gave him a cheeky shake of the head, for him to say;don't go there, dipped his hand into his pocket, and gave me few quarters, saying ;I'll give you this but don't put them on my mounts at linger tomz. He got beat on 2 fav ,one of them at very long odds on in 4 runners race. A hint or what?? |

Was at the 10f. start at Brighton one raceday, Frankie arrives on one early, so as it walked round we passed some time chatting. Also there was a group of p***y caravans camped nearby with a few of the fellas shouting comments...
Frankie naively asked me if I knew them.....I said "No way, and don't mention that you have some lead in the weight cloth, otherwise you'll weigh in light".......he still didn't twig. He used to shout out as he slipped the lead rein to go down to the start "Back Pat Eddery" or whoever was riding a short priced one....they never won as far as I can remember. |
|
By:
Another jockey who used to shout a tip (usually misleading) when he left the weighing room, or entered the parade ring, was Ray Cochrane. Most lost.........shame it was before the betting exchanges came into being.

Walking out of Gowran one day and was havin a chat with Norman Williamson.......two horses had just flashed past the post together in the concluding bumper and one of the jocks shouted over asking Norman what was up. Norman told him he was up a head :^0 He lost.

Also know a few of the stalls handlers at Gowran who said Mick Kinane was very good to them with his tips. They always had the mobiles at the ready.

help John Lowe out carrying his sadddle at esher train station, chatted to him on train and he told me to back fielpe torro(my mind is going a bit thinks thats about right pretty sure it was a Easterby horse) in the portland,in the end a flag start but he got it home at around 10s,must have been in the mid 80s i suppose.
But he really did seem like a nice genuine lad |

It's so boring i can hardly be bothered to say it but i met John Eagan at an airport carrying his saddle where we had quiet a chat.
