The thread has evolved.
My initial question was just to figure out a bit more about the 'winning' owner - just interested in his story pre the accident. Also wanted to know if this was as near a rags to riches story as we're likely to get in flat racing, or whether the bloke is minted and where today's result wouldn't have made a jot of difference. Not agenda - just genuinely interested in the guy. |

it was compensation , and for what he has gone through i think you could any price on that. To read some of the earlier threads i find them quite sickening people laughing at this guy. I for one didnt find this thread at al about the colour of his skin.

I have expected a newmarket jobsworth to try and throw Cecil's owners out of the winners enclosure! If Abdullah had anything about him he would give the prize money to the 2nd. Oh and here's a question how did Prince Khalled Abdullah get his title and his money? ;) |

I read that article - I wasnt on here earlier so no idea what people were saying.
I just hope the guy's filly goes on from this and can run really well in top races for the rest of the season. Would be nice for him and the filly to pick up a G1 before the season is out. |

I would also appeal, whilst minor intereference did take place the jockey on the second never at any stage stopped riding and had every chance to go by imo. The winner wanted it more.

Not the rigth decision - how stupid are people?!? Watch racing day to day - this sort of incident happens at least once a week and as per owners comments today, results are never altered. It is complete and utter bowlacks - logical decision would have been places unaltered, jockey 3 day ban. Not rocket science, not difficult. Stewards a complete fking joke. Complete and total ar$e gravy (like most of your posts here). How often do horses get carted 10-15 metres, get bumped twice in the last furlong and get beaten a Croc-style "flared nostril"? How you can possibly say it is the wrong decision, even for a toilet you like you, is beyond belief. |

The french jockey never had to stop riding, was not ' carried across the track' as was drifting itself .

Imo you'd have to be a complete idiot to think the result should stand. Special Duty was beaten an inch at the most and had been bumped and then carried across the track. If anyone thinks that Special Duty was not hampered to the exent of more than an inch they are blind. It was a completely straightforward decision. No one without an agenda could possibly think otherwise.

henry cecil is the greatest trainer ever bar none and a damn fine fellow aswell , a friend to punters like no other and deserves every sucsess and more ,
but there was no way he could keep that race for the reasons above , was totally gutted for yard , And its good to see passion shown by russjr etc for the man , i respect and understand that and when i think back one day its cecil and jaqueline quest that i will remember . |

What also has gone without comment is how Pasquier also had his whip in the wrong hand - granted, the Cecil horse was drifting into his mount, but nonetheless he too didn't take any action.

2nd never had to stop riding which is why they never normaly get reversed and both jocks when that close have to whip with that hand or theyd hit the other horse or jockey u see jockeys have to pull the horse back when cut up and get beaten half length surley that costs a horse more than a length so its stupid that decisions only get reversed if a nose u can basicaly muller the other horse make it stop and as long as u beat it more than a nose nothing hapens even if u cost the horse 2 lengths and win by 1/2
