1) BRUNSTON, was somewhat of a fortunate winner last time, with others getting troubled runs. Even so it was his first run since last July and I expect the extra furlong and the uphill finish to play more to his strengths than what was the case at Newbury. Acts on good to firm and good to soft so no worries if any rain.

2) ITHINKBEST, this selection is a more speculative one. He showed very little at the start of last season but steadily improved and produced his best effort last time. His trainer is a master with these older type horses and he could prove to be very well treated. Also, if Ryan Moore gets down to the advertised weight, it will be his lowest for over 12 months and would be a tip in itself.

Note to self: I must be get up and watch the Morning Line for 2 reasons:

1) To see how much rain (if any) there has been at Newmarket.
2) To listen carefully to Tanya's titbits just in case they apply to my race.

Good evening, well it looks like a difficult race to call but I will do my best.. I base most of my results on recent stats and the draw bias,

At the moment still scratching my head but to make a start just gone over 35 previous races at Thirsk and out if a 105 possible places the draw threw up the following:

Draw In the money
1 5
2 13
3 13
4 12
5 8
6 10
7 8
8 8
9 8
10 5
11 4
12 5
13 1
14 3
16 2

So ideally we should be looking in the early stalls 2 / 3 / 4 / 10 to sneak in at least one of the places..

Again taking the ratings into consideration and Jockey / trainer recent form and CD / C / D I have the following:

HORSE GRAND TOTAL Draw
Sunnyside Tom 20.1 10
Desert Falls 16.1 5
Nightjar 18.1 3
Ishe Mac 16.1 14
Keys Of Cyprus 13.1 13
Mujaadel 12.1 12
Glenridding 5.1 2
Rising Kheley 2.1 9
Reel Buddy Star 0.1 6
Ra Junior 0.1 7
Game Lad -4.9 4
Legal Legacy -5.9 11
Euston Square -8.9 1
Bold Marc -47.9 8

Going to grab some kip and then take another look in the morning at the minute I would have a short list of Nightjar / Desert falls and Mujaadel,

Shall have another look in the morning and make my final call...

Good luck all.

Kirty.

as most know I am over here in dublin so last night I rang aidan and told him I have the guineas to sort out for the betfair scoop six gang.
I asked him if I could drop down to the yard this morning to have a word
he said "ah course you can lucky but not before 8 as I will be at mass
so anytime after 8 will do me. so jumped in the car and got there about 8.45 am only to be met at the gate by the man himself.
the interview went something like this

lucky: how was mass aidan.
aidan: oh be jayus it was all about the recession the developers and the bankers who have destroyed our country all for greed I said a little prayer to god thanking him for not instilling that greed in to the coolmore boys they still have their few euro stashed away, thank god
lucky: all right aiden what about this superstar you say you have.
aiden: which one is that, lucky
lucky: jayus aiden (the lingo is catchy down here) how many have you got.
aiden: well everyone knows we have the best stallions in the world so each stallion nearly always produce a really really good one so they are all superstars to us.
lucky: ffs (under my breath) saint nicholas abbey, aiden
aiden: oh that one yeah he is a real superstar sure I remember the day he was born my son joe said "da look at the big head on that foal" I knew instantly we had a supersar on out hands.
lucky: how do you see the race going aiden
aiden: wel you never stop learnig in this game and watching that poor auld fooker gorden brown on sky the other day I thought I could learn sumthin from this.
lucky: is it a secret what you got fro the brown fiasco.
aiden. well I should not tell anyone but fook it you won't tell anyone will ya ?
lucky: no aiden not a soul.
aiden: well johnny has been worried all winter about having to come from behind all them horses and he might get blocked in so I have put a mike on the collor of his silks and a 20 watt speaker in his cap so if them two dosey conts on the pace makers are going too slow he can give them a shout to hurry the fook up and then when he is making his move with a furlong to go, he can shout
"get out of me **g way I can't hold on to this **g thing anymore, xtension will almost be out the back with us and adam kirbby will say to johnny "go wan johnny I'll go with you" and johnny will say
"not unless you have a rocket up that things hole you won't"
so there you go lucky thats the plan there is only one little doubt about the whole operation and thats

I see that boll ox moneytree has napped us, I have some of the boys from limrick that coolmore use now and again looking for him
god help him when they find him

oh and another thing spell me **g name right will ya its AIDAN.

lucky: ok aiden will do will do.

Leg 6:

Total Gallery:
Has apparently been working with Canford Cliffs. Won first time out last year; although he has an 8lb penalty to carry, he's 3rd best in on the adjusted figures.; only 4 and improvement still to come.

Amour Propre:
Won this first-time-out last year; trainer reports that he has "doubled in size and weight, and has Ascot as his target. If it transpires he needs the run, he may run in the Temple."

Hmmm...Are we to take from this that he's not as forward as last year? I'm going to stop reading what trainers say!

Arganil:
By a sire who would appear to have a better strike-rate on the AW and this fella is rated 5lb higher on the sand.

Blue Jack:
Looked an improved performer on debut for Tom Dascombe when recording a time under standard at Newbury.

Bonnie Charlie:
Bought for 105,000 guineas out of Richard Hannon's stable and makes his debut for W Haggas with Ryan Moore booked. Interesting that they're starting him off at 5f; both wins came with soft in the going description.

Borderlescott:
3rd in this race last year; best in on the adjusted figures by at least 3lb. The trainer reports that he had had a "few racecourse gallops" and is more forward this year.

Elnawin:
Was giving 7lb to Blue Jack when second to that impressive winner at Newbury and reopposes at levels today.

Equiano:
Beat Takeover Target at Royal Ascot in 2008, and benefitted from a wind operation when recording his best RPR since, when all out to win over 6f on his reappearance.

Rowe Park:
Ridden by Ryan Moore when 4th behind Blue Jack in the Newbury race; Moore prefers Bonnie Charlie today.

Spin Cycle:
Won his only start over C & D when taking Listed contest last October; stable (who won this 2 years ago) in good form and he won first time out last season.

Sole Power:
Would appear to be up against it on the figures, however, has only had the 7 starts, and he was sharp enough beat older sprinters on his reappearance at Dundalk.
Three-year-olds have won 3 of the last 4 runnings of this race.

Star Rover:
Precocious 2-y-o who held his form throughout last season; needs to prove that he has trained on following a poor effort on his reappearance, though admittedly that was on unsuitable ground.

Summary:
Trainers' comments have muddied the waters further with Henry Candy reporting that last year's winner Amour Propre to have grown massively over the winter and may need the run; and Robin Bastiman reporting last year's third, Borderlescott, to be more forward having have a few racecourse gallops.
Throw in the potential improvement from Total Gallery, Blue Jack, Spin Cycle and Sole Power - and hopefully I've mentioned the winner somewhere - LOL.

My 2 against the field are:

Amour Propre and Blue Jack
That's Amour Propre if the pace holds up, and Blue Jack to pick up the pieces if it doesn't.

Leg 5 Thirsk 3.30

I have this race between 3 horses,

Game Lad - who has tumbled in the weights since his last win and is now on a all time low. He showed that he was returning to form when he ran 3rd at Doncaster recently on faster ground than preferred. If the expected rain arrives he would be very hard to beat.

Ishe Mac - a lightly raced filly whose two wins have come at this venue, and both times after a lay off. She is yet to race on a wet surface, so that would be a major doubt and she could prove to be better over the 6f.

Glenridding - has won 3 times over 7 furlongs and they were all at this course. The only doubt I have about him is that it normally takes a few races to get fully fit, and thats the only reason that I'm passing him over.

So my selections for leg 5 will be

(14) GAME LAD

(6) ISHE MAC

Good morning,

Still finding this one a mine field but going to bite the bullet and go with Nightjar as my main selection trainer going for the hat trick after scooping this race for the previous 2 years.

My second choice it the one that I am still humming and ahhing at and hate changing my mind but going to go with Ishe Mac wide draw but think Franny Norton onboard can get this into the money,

Watch my earlier selections come home to bite..

Good luck all..

Trappy heat and for some obscure reasons this is what ive made of it

Definightly - lightly raced and well in at best. Just a shame his best doesnt look to be a sharp 6. One for next time over 7 if shows a bit here

Viking Spirit - getting older but his mark has dropped a fair way also. In reasonable heart without looking a winner waiting to happen

Kerrys Requiem - 1 win from 24 starts is the negative, the positive is that she is running well. Dont like the negative though

Perfect Flight - only raced 4 times all last year and runs were spaced out suggesting problems. Would like to see more before backing it or alot of cash. Likes it here but if it were mine and hed had problems hed be enjoying himself today rather than being blasted and given a hard race

Russian Spirit - a horse im sure they thought would climb the ranks rather quicker than is happening. Maybe this year will be the one where it blooms but seems short for what its acheived.

Mutamared - old timer who benefitted from some rat i laid heavily dogging it in the last 50 yards to win last year. Looks worse now and readily passed over

King´s Caprice - one of my lucky pins jobs at folkstone at 40's. but isnt anywhere near that price today and looked tricky at that track. At 9yo i can leave it alone in follwoing up

Magical Speedfit - hold up sprinter who likes brighton so has a chance to like it here. Needs a decent pace to chase and althought thats not cast iron its a possible if things go right for it.

Make My Dream - my idea of the best bet in the race. tactically versatile so can track or be held up. Usually runs his race and hopefully The Cat isnt commentating or he might call the wrong horse home. lol

Overall my 2 against the field are

make my dream and viking spirit. lets hope we can get the fav beat to knock a load of lines out
