Betfair Customer Services 30 Apr 11:08
We are pleased to announce that the ATR races are now streamed in flash format, which provides better picture quality and is now much faster as it is delivered with a similar delay to the TV pictures. Other additions We've also added the Hi/Lo bit rate buttons, which will also benefit the user experience. In addition, Betfair is now able to stream events to our Australian customers, and we will be doing so across a wide number of sports worldwide where we have the rights to do so. Unfortunately ATR coverage of UK and Irish racing still cannot be streamed to our Australian customers. |

as fast as atr on sky will be a great help
By:
well sayed, heynoodles
By:
Presumably, if they can get ATR pictures to a PC as fast or slightly quicker than a Sky dish, there is scope in the future for streaming clean feeds from racecourses?
By:
er.. why? nobody is going to play i/r so why bovver? its only for people to watch the racing. 'speed' irrelevant.
By:
pleasing news
By:
one day it will be so quick, the market will be ahead of the pictures :^0
By:
heynoodles shown your class again ysdc :^0
By:
it was in flash on b365 yesterday - was running about 10 secs quicker than the windows media pics elsewhere. You're still nuts if u think u can realistically compete with on-course though.
By:
Going forward, the best chance of home punters getting close-to-live pictures is obviously through Flash streaming so, while this particular development will mean little, it is positive that they are investing in this technology.
By:
agree a bit dissie , at least they realised that they were killing the golden goose ,people on here betting in running sometimes4 to 5 sec behind .
By:
I noticed the aus stream was just a fraction of a second behind ruk and atr but of course limited by what they do, lets hope its a step in the right direction but dark forces in our sport will alwyas keep it in the dark ages
By:
Defintely a move in the right direction but if the pics come from ATR arent they sure to remain slow for a while yet? ATR tracks signed long term deals isnt it, so if bf has to go through atr they cant get the pics live from the tracks?
Plus so many vested interests, yer man at Leicester brags of making more from in running players than the on course bookies? |

I WONDER WHAT RACECOURSES WILL DO NOW ? |
By:
with levy falling year apon year its a pity there isnt one 'proper' racing journalist out there that can take this up and point out that racing is losing levy and punter interest by this situation
By:
"similar delay to the TV pictures"
changes nowt imo |
By:
The point abd makes is the one thing to take from this development imo. Who is not to say that bf could barter a deal in the near future to provide the feeds simply badged with the atr logos etc. Whatever way it is looked at, it certainly aint a retrograde step.
By:
Muqbil is correct. Furthermore a fast inernet stream will be faster than satellite.
By:
same as atr in fact prob 0.1 quicker
By:
massively improved - and only 1 sec behind SIS
By:
agree with hull
By:
very good news for the I/R boys, impossible b4
By:
GO BF GO. Kept this 1 quiet but real progress. Thanks for the timings regards SIS.
By:
Shame the sound doesnt work :(
By:
Just timed it against SIS, about 1.5 seconds behind.
By:
It depends if there is any real will to sort it out. As noodles said, plenty of these tracks are happy with the situation, the track players need no entertaining and provide a lumpy extra income. It would need Betfair to be particularly pro-active in sourcing clean feeds as part of their existing package - perfectly possible, of course, but you suspect highly unlikely.

http://www.skychannel.com.au/
the feed on the above channel for the aussie races through the night are a good couple of seconds ahead of atr. |
By:
problem is...trying to bet i/r whilst viewing on your pc and then placing your bets on your pc for me at least would get me into a bit of a tangle and would negate things.....get the bloody race channels up to live is the only way to sort it out once and for all.
By:
Not difficult to get an internet feed coming out through a telly or separate monitor, duffy. You sound like my old man!
By:
lol.....fair enough....anyway whats going on here....trying to watch it to see how "live" it is....and the first race at doncaster comes up to place a bet on lol
By:
must be a fishing thread.....or just plain misleading......it's still behind 415....all a big fuss about nothing.....the winner was 2.1 coming round the home turn there!!!
By:
Can't watch BF Live video at DONCASTER today as they seem to have got todays links wrong, All linked up to tommorows races lol...
By:
lol
By:
lingfield was behind channel 415...so its a false dawn anyhow
