decimals so much easier to understand for noive/infrequent punters

Mcririck and the rails bookie on earlier couldn't even work out the decimal odds back to fractions so not sure it's any easier for public. certainly a pr disaster if done a different way to the tote and betfair.

According to todays trial, decimal odds in use would be 3.0 = 3-1, 2.0 = 2-1, 1.0 = evens etc

the thing with decimal is its far easier for punters to work out what the bookies over round is. thats why they dont like it.

personally I couldn't care less because like most people on here I grew up with fractions and work daily with decimals ... I can see the point that telling someone that they are going to get 1.375 to 1 is may be clearer than telling someone that they will get 11 back for every 8 that they bet but I can't see it fundamentally affecting turnover. I can see there being a problem if the decimal odds that the bookies in Tatts are showing are different than the odds shown on the Tote because most new players usually start on the Tote and then make their way into the ring as they get more confident.
