good thread. as you know i'm standard terms and don't turn any business away. smart? ehm...

If I was betting on course @ some of these meetings I would take the Eway problem and turn it on its head.
Why hasn't at least ONE bookmaker thought out of the box - BET PLACE ONLY - I would (necessity is the mother of invention) THINK ABOUT IT LADS |
|
By:
THINK INOVATION LADS
|
|
By:
In fact i might just make a comback - ANY BOOKMAKERS WANT A CASH INVESTOR ?

Foss Lass didn't seem particularly punter friendly last night. They cannot be the same lot who attend Kempton .. or can they?

You've got to laugh. Day after day we hear about how "them bookies" should bet to traditional EW terms or put up Win Only, now it seems that betting 1/7th the odds is better than betting to proper odds and win only. Make your minds up fellas!
Completely diff day, you had new people who didnt have a clue, your "new" punters, i see the look of bewilderment on there faces when they asked for ew, to be told win only, so off they went to the tote.**ers. I knew that adage, was my lad said it was a cowboy hat honest . . . |
|
By:
Mike - Towcester always free & punters were in the main the same old faces. I've got plenty of regular punters there who like a proper bet & wouldnt be too happy at me putting up everything bar the front two at half price in order to accomodate the £1 EW punters at 1/5th odds.
Everyone who asked me for an EW bet was given an explanation and pointed in the direction of adge. The other meetings this week I agree more with you, not Towcester. Hopefully the other courses will be adle to stage more competitive racing. Big odds ons are not a good advert for the product to newcomers. |
|
By:
Fair comment wasnot. what name do you bet under??
Hope the 1/7th the odds guy took a 1/7th of adages business. Mind you the £6 quid burger was up there with him. £6 quid for a burger!! |
|
By:
Mike he should have gone eway with the burger - and he would have got a 7oz instead of a quarter pounder £12 - get in there my son- COME RACING
|
|
By:
*****where value also, think it worked out bout £2 quid a pototo, that makes a bag bout what??? £200 quid?? come racing.
Message to self, plant some marris pipers in allotment. :) |

When you go to chantilly you pay 3euros to watch their Derby- dont need to book a table in a fabulous restaurnt- get free champers as you walk in - then tuck into a 4 course meal for 25 euros.
Trouble is the old enemys not there. British racing is the best in the world- we have the best horses best racecourses BUT WE GET RIPPED OFF EVERYTIME. I don't blame the bookmakers I BLAME THE COURSE EXECUTIVES. |
|
By:
Towcester is about the best course exec around all they need to do now is get the chefs trained
|
|
By:
IT's about time courses realised people don't want to eat hot dogs - heated up on a bunson burner- put a few tents up with proper chefs chairs and make things comfortable - Wind sor mange it.
Thats why people flock there every monday night. |

Racing For Change?
It's about time they changed some of the management at the courses. My daughter applied the middle of last week for tickets at Sedgefield tonight along with quite a few of her mates. Her post has been,no tickets & up to last night none of her mates had tickets. That's good publicity for the game isn't it? |

i bet at epsom for the 1st time last wednesday,i asked where the bookmakers car park was ,they said we dont have one, just park anywhere, this with all the security issues we now face. |
|
By:
Unbiased,
In my book 7/2 & 10/3 in decimal terms are 4.5 & 4.3........another chance to skin the punter ? |
|
By:
no long before someone gets a system that makes the dot more like a dash and both bets will be on offer at 4.1 and the punters will think they are 4/1
|
|
By:
went to perth last week
£15 in fair enough, I can just about accept that £5.90 for burger and ***** £4.50 for a steak roll £2.50 for a portion of ***** £1.50 for an ice cream cone £1.50 for a bottle of water are those prices value ? and the food was very moderate to be honest |
|
By:
yes , kenny , we all know 100/30 is bigger than 4.3 but we make allowances
|
|
By:
you appear to have a large appetite, par. bound to be costly if you are ging to eat all that during 1 afternoon at the races.

Par,
That's just a snack for Gary Wiltshire........ Used to get a nice big piece of game pie at Lingfield for £3........no longer though. Adge, So all those 1,000/70's, 1,000/90's, 100/30's etc. will have to be converted back in the field book to decimals. |
|
By:
a £1000 to £80 was offered as a small concesion as against £960 to £80 but I fear the fractions will be used against the punters interest.

on the first day out a bookie using the old clerking book started off taking every bet that was called,
A tick went up to him and asked for a 100 to 8 a horse and after the race when the tick tack offered his the £8 He said "You had a £100 @ 8. The lad said what a 12/1 chance He was told by the bookmaker next door that he was wrong the bet actually was only £8. So how land will it be that some unscrupulous person gains an advantage. cubone |
