tzar, what about actually enjoying yourself? Having a diet a bit more varied than 'wake up, watch Betfair for 14 hours, sleep, wake up, watch Betfair' appeals to some people. And when you get a press badge thrown in, even better.

Why give him stick because the ones he picks in the races he is asked to give a selection for lose? IMO a pro punter will spend most of his time waiting, not punting - but I'm a gueser so what do I know?

I read somewhere a few years ago that out of the 800 or so professional punters in the UK/Ireland that Dave Nevison is up there with the best.

Personally I think all pundits, horse racing or otherwise, when advising investments to the general public should work on a commision basis. To keep them honest. Also I think their record, profit and loss, should be available at all times to view. They are professionals the same as jockeys and trainers and their records can be viewed at any time.

Yesterday I thought a horse called Michigan D´Isop would win at Bangor. In my tissue I had Sagalyrique at 6-4 and MD at 3-1 and I left bets on BF looking for 4+ on MD. When the race came along, however, MD was 6-4 and Sagalyrique went out to 6 so I backed Sagalyrique (with a saver rfc). Can you pls explain how you thought MD would win when Sagalyrique was the fav on your own tissue? |

As pro punters go he is a magnificent specimen. Many of em look terrible and years of stessful punting has obviously taken its toll. Compare him to Alex Bird, Alan potts or Andrew Laud and he's different gravy is NEVO.

pedrobob, I thought that Sagalyrique was unexposed over fences and had the potential to win easily. However, it had dissappointed last time, was trying a new trip, and came from Alan Kings in and out stable.
MD, on the other hand, is consistent, was lowly weighted and seemed to be improving. At 3-1 I thought that MD would have been good value against the fav (in my book), considering the doubts about Sagalyrique. MD was also still to prove itself over 3m. When I make my tissue, in my head, I do it based on form in the book - as well as other factors like jockey, trainerform, ground, distance etc and likely betting patterns. I may fancy a 20-1 shot because its lightly raced, the opposition have all had a hard season, its improving, or comes from a yard in top form but it wouldn´t be fav solely on that. What I´m saying is the horse I think might win doesn´t automatically have to be fav. |

All the horses have a chance of winning on your tissue, and their chance is reflected in your tissue eg a 20-1 chance has a 1 in 21 chance of winning Whilst MD may have a 3-1 chance of winning according to your tissue, surely the horse you thought had best chance of winning was Sagalyrique , since you made it 6-4 fav on your tissue? |
