Steve is employed in the background by the BBC. He knows more about our sport than the whole of the on air lot put together. He's a friend I speak to on the dog sometimes and I've never heard him express any frustration. A saint therefore.

Met Lydia well before she was famous on a racecourse and we were together in a small group for most of the day. Great day's racing it was. She was pleasant, down to earth, no airs and graces. She was beginning to make her way in the industry at that point. This is well over 10 years ago and she won't remember me at all. I can only say now I'm glad she's made such a success of herself.

Steve Taylor of The Weekender. Jovial, and somewhat rotund xx Sporting Life Hack. Known variously as Blowing Stone, Lord Lambourn and The Milkman. These days known as 'The DG' for his work 'behind the scenes' at the BBC. Catch phrase; 'I think you'll find, old boy...' Purveyor of some of the finest excuses ever heard for not being able to struggle into the Life on a daily basis.

Cheers For Thea 15 Apr 11:13 Did he not used to be on ATR in the early days? Always seemed a good lad. Steve Rider is the nicest man in sport imo just ahead of Steve Davis.
Yes he was on the original ATR.....it was usually Sundays when he was on....when they reviewed the weeks racing sitting on sofas.
