yes lampus i have noticed that over the years and have seen you be lambasted by the same insular people who are stopping the future racing fan from getting involved in the game because they cannot get access to it without paying, how can you know you like something if you cannot even see it.

how can people get to like racing if they cannot even watch it.i suspect that most of their viewers are involved in racing in one form or another but where do the viewrs of the future come from if new people do not come to love the game.

Indeed Mr crow. I've got a nephew who really got into racing through the old ATR. Being part of the initial package it didn't cost any extra when it came along, but for that I don't think he would ever have grown to love the sport. To this day his family don't subscribe to RUK because of the extra cost, he himself isn't in a financial position to pay for it himself as he is still at university. The access that ATR initially gave and still do within a cheap package has been fantastic for the sport. RUK is of a high quality but is for people already involved in the sport, they really do little to foster new lovers of the sport. Being a subscription channel makes sure of that.

wee eck = clueless! best channel of the two by 20 lengths hard held and if they were to go (which they wont) where would that leave racing? In the gutter! Grow up pay the fee and be grateful that we can see the best racecourses around thanks to RUK

I am not paying the £20 simply because as Cymro said earlier ...... the people who work during the week do not get value for money. Many years ago a weekend package was available at a reduced. I am sure if that was to be implemented there would be 000's of additional subscibers.

Good point, I'd pay for that but working week means it's not value otherwise, I can get replays elsewhere.

Doesn't anyone on here remember when there were no pictures at all, apart from ITV and BBC. No pictures in the bookies either? Good punters could still make the game pay reading the Sporting Life and listening to the commentary on the blower.

They are greedy barstewards. £20 is expensive for a single sport, where they have moderate coverage of the NH racing. It's also too expensive to go racing & they wonder why so few people go.

How can you be serious about betting if you think £20 a month is too much. RUK is great stop complaining

There are many, many people less well off than ourselves that cannot afford this. Racing should be for everyone.
You need to compare this with subscriptions for other sports. Sky Sports and ESPN are cheaper for instance.
I would have thought that if you want to encourage people to get involved & bet on horse racing, you'd make it cheap to get as big an audience as possible.
